100 Bullets Back

That'll be a 4/4 beat then yeah? Bargin!

About Me

Then: It was a wet and windy night, the month following mid-summer back when girls were boys who did boys like they’re girls and everyone thought they’d Live Forever. A happy time, an innocent time, a time that would often be looked at with rose tinted glasses over a cheeky vimto in-front of a feeble camp fire. Mr. Tumnus passed the days eating cheese whilst trying to burn off the calories by listening to Mr. Wood talk cobblers. What was that? A visitor? Ron Burgundy appeared with briefcase, brogues and a bowler hat. “Let’s form a band”. And that they did.
Acoustics guitars were wheeled out. Songs were written. The Hairy Palmers were born. Mr. Wood went around the world, although not the Daft Punk way. Cider and Black, Potatoman, Atticus…all were...then weren’t. Let's all go travelling.
Then again: It was time for something new. 1. Get a guitar that actually made some loud noise – check 2. Get some bass - check 3. Get some electronics and sequencers– check 4. Get some keyboards that could make lots of bleeps/beeps/squelches etc - check 5. Get some things to hit, get someone to hit them, change skin basher lots of times and eventually replace with a machine – check. New band new name. 100 Bullets Back? Errrrr, ok.
Mr. Tumnus whispered out loud “Let’s release some songs”. Ok. Limited edition 7" singles, The Lost Souls Club / Violence and I KnOw / Bangkok (Velocity Recordings). And an album? Yes. Refute Fake Icons (Velocity Recordings). Lovely.
“Oh, but how about some airplay?” Ron Burgundy replied. Yes we can and it will be from London to Los Angeles, being continually play listed by Rodney Bingenheimer on KROQ in LA, championed by Claire Sturgess on XFM in London, plays on numerous local and college stations and for good measure airplay in Spain, Italy, France, Germany and Serbia. A tour of Italy followed. Yeah!
And gigs? But of course. Support slots with Bloc Party, TV On The Radio, The Zutons, Dogs Die in Hot Cars, Tom Vek, The Young Knives, Shy Child and the legendary Truck Festival to name but a few? Right then.
Now: “But that was yesterday” Crime interjected. “Who are you?” “Where are you from?” the others asked. “I have no idea…but I can dance!” Crime mumbled. Good. How we all laughed. Keeps it simple.
Tomorrow?: More gigs in more ridiculous places = fun. As if by magic some more songs have also appeared and are still appearing. Another release(s)? The very ltd. edition U.21 Girls EP (free Truck Festival giveaway) before a new album. Very soon my friend. “What about our club?” The Teacher e-mailed whilst on a coffee break. “What… Abort, Retry, Fail?” Oh, there is that too, but that is for another story on another page.

"This is a cool record that updates the synth-pop template with a light touch, high energy and panache, clever without being smartarse, catchy without striving for effect. Its impressive and more importantly, its fun."
Damn Pest

"Their hyperactive synth-heavy electro rock n roll is definitely what the people want...Their disco vibe is really intense and Id go as far to say that this album is more an experience than just a bunch of songs...All in all, a great album from a new and up n coming band."
Screaming Tarts

"Cracking 21st century pop, not to be passed by! Producing a new age electro sonic sound experience, this album will make you feel real good. (CD of the week August 31st)."

Sounds Like: Drum machines + added sub + squelchy bass + the bleeps + cut up Tele riffs + shouty voice spouting nonsense to a 4/4 beat recorded between a garage and a basement, then touched up in a proper studio in an attempt to add some degree of professionalism to the whole racket
