Established in 1999 by Stephen Adams, the salon features stylists and artwork that inspire creativity. It's located in the heart of Uptown in Minneapolis on the corner of 27th and Lyndale Ave S. And now there's a second location in the midway of St.Paul. 722 Snelling Ave N.
A venture into Moxie is an experience for everyone to enjoy. We will help you relax, get educated and be understood. When you leave Moxie, we want you to feel that a rare expectation has been met.
At Moxie Hair Salon and Art Gallery we are devoted to the community and our staff. We have many things going on all the time to keep everyone involved. From weekly education to art openings and cut-a-thons, Moxie is committed to excellence and to making the world a better and more beautiful place.
Community Service
Moxie is dedicated to giving back to the community. Every fall, around Thanksgiving, we hold a "Moxie Hair Raising Event" in which we raise money for StreetWorks and Kulture Klub, two organizations that work with homeless youth. At the same time, we participate in The Great American Sleepout for homelessness awareness. Every year some of our staff raises their own pledges and sleeps out in front of the salon. The salon is open for 24 hours and we cut hair all night long while our friends are sleeping outside.
In the Spring we host another "Hair Raising Event". In 2005 and 2006, we raised money for B-Girl Be, a summit for women in hip hop. This was an all day event which included performances from local poets, singers, break dancers, dj’s, and visual artists. In the past we've raised funds for the Minnesota Chamber Orchestra. Moxie Hair Salon and Art Gallery is made up of a very diverse and eclectic group of stylists and clients!
Art Gallery
At Moxie, we believe that hair is a medium to create beautiful art. To keep our creativity fresh we surround ourselves with a new artist every six weeks. THid is also captivating for the clients because they get to see something new every time they come into the salon. It is a wonderful way to draw inspiration and to help local artists display their work.
