About Me

My name is Nigel Tufnel. I started my music when I was six in Squatney, London's east end. My first guitar was a sunburst "Rhythm King" which my father gave to me. I met my best friend David St. Hubbins when I was 7, David was 8, and we would jam together all day long in his backyard toolshed. Years later, after I quit the Lovley Lads and he quit his group The Creatures, we formed our own group and we've never stopped playing...

BAND PHOTOS

The first shot of Spinal Tap was taken before we were even called Spinal Tap...so I guess it's not really the first shot of Spinal Tap at all now is it. Let's start fresh, this first shot is in 1964 performing our first big hit when we were known as The Thamesmen called "Gimme Some Money." This was of course before Derek joined the band as our bassist, but we did have our original drummer John "Stumpy" Pepys. Then in 1967 "(Listen To The) Flower People" climbed the charts even faster than our first hit. And yes for all of you blokes out there taking notes we were known at this time all throughout the universe as Spinal Tap!!! And of course here we are the way you all know us today...well it was about 20 years ago, but we still look and act a lot like this.

My Interests

Check out our show sometime. We will rock your head right off!

I'd like to meet:

the man who designs our merchandise...he seems smart

Music:

Our Albums!!!

Movies:

THIS IS SPINAL TAP

Television:

I guess I kind of like that Simpson show now that I've made an appearance on it... and the rest of the band was there too!

Books:

Magazines are like books, but with a lot of different stories in them and written by a lot of people rather than one man...or woman. They're also much shorter stories, but usually more entertaining because they have pictures to look at.

Heroes:

Blues artists: Honkin' Bubba Fulton, Little Sassy Francis, and Big "Little Daddy" Coleman, who is arguably one of the greatest deaf blues guitar players of all time!
