About Me

The Wild Goose Chase Cloggers are a non-profit educational organization based in Minnesota. The group performs and teaches traditional Appalachian clogging at festivals and community events throughout the state and the upper-Midwest. Current and former members of the group are especially proud of their performances at international folk music and dance festivals in England, Norway, Sweden, Canada, Ukraine, Poland, France and Belgium. The Geese offer school programs, workshops for all ages and performances of 15 minutes to full 1 1/2-hour concerts. The Wild Goose Chase Cloggers were established in 1979 and currently consist of 12 energetic dancers accompanied by the lively music of the Yard Buzzard String Band. My Interests

Music:

Band Website: wildgoosechasecloggers.org
Band Members: The membership of The Wild Goose Chase Cloggers includes six male and six female dancers and five musicians. Membership is on a voluntary basis and turns over at the rate of one or two per year. The newest member has been with the group for one year. The senior member has been with the group for twenty years. We audition as openings occur. We seek consensus of the current membership when bringing in a new member. This consensus enables a genuine expression of community when we perform. We require that members maintain regular attendance at our weekly rehearsals and are available for a majority of our performances.Except for musicians, we do not require previous experience from new members. We are looking for aptitude and enthusiasm. New members learn by an informal process available within the group. For a person of normal ability, it usually takes two to three years to learn the repertoire.
Influences: Green Grass Cloggers, Girl Germs, Scots-Irish stepping, English Clogging, African-American flat-footing, Cherokee Native Dance, Appalachia, tap, French-Canadian dance, old time string bands, clawhammer banjo,
Sounds Like: Raindrops tapping at your window, goats dancing on top of your car, elephants parading down your street, it really depends!
