What can I say about Jay One!, hes one of those cats who always had that potential to do big things but was always overlooked for one reason or another. But for those who know him as a DJ and as a person, they always had faith that he will one day BLOW UP! Born and raised in Holyoke, Ma, he was known and respected locally throughout the greator Springfield Area, as well as Greator Hartford Area. He has done mix shows as far back the late 80's on college radio, he was a guest on 90.7 FM WTCC with Jesus "THE JUICE" Vasquez and has recently done a mix show with DJ STRESS & LEX BOOGIE. He also had guest spots on 89.9 FM WCSB with the legendary DJ DOCTOR 9, and with his brother from another mother DJ NIKO. He has also been a guest on 91.1 FM WMUA in UMASS. Although hes not a battle DJ, he entered the 2004 Guitar Center battle and placed 2nd. Hes done mix tapes as far back as 1986. So the man has a pretty long history, but he continues to adapt to new technology, and keeps pushing the boundries of making abstract mixes. Hes been on his grind, working with long time friend and producer Dion Diaz of Clear Cutz Records, laying down cuts & scratches and creative ideas for the Clear Cutz artists. He is also working with a BEASTIE BOYS tribute band, called CHECK YOUR HEAD. He plans on taking his skills as a mix DJ on the road, and possibly tour the world. Be on the lookout for more Remixes.
