About Me

Visit my more artistic, creative side at www.myspace.com/ythompson86!!!
I’m not a musician...and it shows. I am a writer, but music is my lifeline. I was in chorus and even in the band in high school, but that's about as far as I got in the entertainment industry until the gift of myspace came along (unless you count various appearances at local nursing homes and churches with my kids). I've had music on the internet on another site for some time now, and I figured since I am a die-hard myspace aficionado, I might as well be able to HEAR my own music as well as that of others. Thus, I "artist-ed" up. If you hear what sounds like a guitar on some songs, then it's my son's six string that's missing a string, needing a tune, and needing somebody who knows how to play it. All tracks are recorded at my computer desk at home. I sing everything with the exception of "Lean" which is a song I wrote for my kids when they were younger. I write all the music. "Dream" began my love affair with Sony's Acid Music Maker, so at least the INSTRUMENTATION should sound better on songs composed after that. I'm also experimenting with Fruity Loops on a couple of new songs. Erika Badhu said it best-"Keep in mind I'm an artist and I'm sensitive about my sh*." Listen at your own risk.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: Personal page: myspace.com/ythompson86
Band Members: ME and occasionally the kids, lol.
Influences: Anybody who knows me knows that John Mayer is my biggest influence right now and has been for years. There is no one out there like him and the boy is doing his thang. Top notch, heartfelt lyrics, unparalleled musicianship, and an awe-inspiring stage presence, no one can touch him now. However, I grew up in the age of Soul Train, Solid Gold, and Hee-Haw so you can just imagine some of my influences. Etta James, Sheryl Crow, Tina Turner, Dolly Parton, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Prince, Marvin Gaye, The Rolling Stones, Run DMC, Missy, Babyface, Rascal Flats, you name it, it's music, I probably dig it.
Sounds Like: Probably nothing you've ever heard before. I don't know if that's good or bad, but it's true ;-)

Record Label: tnteeze-- my family label ;-)
Type of Label: Indie

My Blog

MUSIC, of course!!!

More music is coming-slowly, but surely. My computer died recently ... That's kind of putting a halt to everything I had planned on getting up before Christmas. Oh well, I guess I spared a few ears...

Gravity

Beware! I have a cover of John Mayer's "Gravity" that I'm submitting to JMMA (The John Mayer Music Appreciation) group. If they think it's good enough, it will go up in their player. I think my vocals...

Just a Few Words

There is new music and there is old music I had forgotten about inside me. The tricky part now is finding out how to get it out...

Pidget, Rock, and Jazz

My friend Pidget thinks that I could have a future in the jazz/rock genre, whatever that is, so I wrote this little ditty with that in mind: ..> jazzrock..> It's kind of growing on me...

Acid is Great! (Sony's Music Software, NOT DRUGS)

Just wanted to give a quick shout-out to Sony for Acid 5.0 which is enabling me to create better music for my songs. It doesn't make me sound any better, but you can't win 'em all. My first acid-based...
