I am a 32 year old boy. I live for the moment. I like to have fun. I enjoy good times out with good friends. I like traveling, partying, watching movies, going to concerts, reading books, and listening to music. And sometimes, a combination of all of those like traveling around the world, catching a movie or concert in another country and partying all night while there!! LOL!! I am a total Heinz 57 varieties mutt. I'm a strange mix of German, Irish, Slovakian, Austrian, Italian, Czech! I also actually do enjoy cooking but only foods from countries I have lived in such as Japanese ones and Chinese ones. It’s good to go somewhere so different than your own home and experience all that country’s culture has to offer you. It’s such a rewarding experience. It’s truly one of the best things I have ever done in life.
I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. I have been all over the USA to all the major cities we have. New York, LA, Las Vegas, Seattle, you name it. Chicago is in my opinion, the best city in the US. It has the most down to earth people, great food, and an iconic skyline. In 2002, I went to live over in Kyoto Japan. I had an awesome host family and everyday was such an adventure. One of the most amazing times of my life. I went to the KIA--Kyoto International Academy. In 2005, I moved over to Hong Kong. It was an exciting new start for me. At 30 years old, it was the start of a new chapter in my life. I was in the process of opening a café and starting a t-shirt company. I was also a language tutor, an English teacher for little kids and taught some basic Japanese classes. HK has some of the most exciting nightlife I have ever seen in the world. It’s really a 24 hour place and it’s the only place I been that I feel can keep up with me!!!
I returned to Chicago on 9/11/06. I wonder if that was supposed to be a joke. 2 people had ruined everything for me in HK. Things got bad. My business partner had stole all the money set aside for my café and clothing company, and threw me out in the street. I was stuck homeless, completely broke, starving, stuck in a country where I didn’t speak the language and had no way home. But I didn’t give up, I moved along. I had got by thanks to the help of some of my friends. Back in the US, things were no picnic. I had gotten rid of everything to live permanently in HK, so it was like starting over. Top it off most of my friends were mad cause I left so they don’t talk to me anymore. But it’s no big deal, I get along with almost anyone so I will make new friends.
Homeless in Hong Kong is the name of my book I am writing. People have told me since I went to Japan 5 years ago, I need to write a book. I have finally got it together. I talked to a publisher and have them very interested in publishing it when I finish it. So you could say I am now an aspiring writer. I hope to get this published in many countries. I’ll always keep updating on here with any more progress I make on it. I have a ton of material for a 2nd book already. The publisher has some interest too but I have to get the first one out before I can get this published. Stay tuned……
I am learning to play guitar. I always WANTED to but NEVER did it. Well I am now. It’s become my new favourite hobby. I guess I just feel more free to do anything after the hell I went through before I left HK. If you ever saw the movie Fight Club, there is a line in there. “It’s only after you lose everything, that you are free to do anythingâ€. It’s so very true. It’s how I totally feel nowadays. I am doing things I never would have before……
I am also putting together a little band. I have this awesome idea that no one has ever done before and it will totally make you laugh when you see it in action. I am planning on calling ourselves TEAM DRUNKEN FRENZY. I told several people about my idea and they loved it. Were are going to be all about having fun while we play music. I got the idea for the name after I ran into a college drinking club in Kyoto named that!! IT’S NOT A LIE! There is an actual thing called a drinking club in some colleges in Japan! And you wonder why I would want to move over there. But as of right now, the name of my band is going to be TEAM DRUNKEN FRENZY. Want to join my team????????
I enjoy learning foreign languages too. I can speak English of course. I can read, speak, and write some Japanese yet. I used to be better but I am losing it. I can read a little Mandarin and Cantonese but can’t speak it very well or at all. I spent a year in HK and all I learned was diu, pok gai, diu lei lo ma, other variations involving diu and chao siu bao. Pretty sad huh? I did learn Spanish at an early age but forgot most of it. I was self studying Korean too but didn’t get very far with it.
I totally enjoy travel. There is nothing more fun than throwing together a suitcase and taking off for somewhere far away. I have been all over the USA. It’s probably easier for me to name states I haven’t been to. Name a state or city and I have probably been there before. Aside form living in Japan and Hong Kong. I have visited Taiwan, Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean Islands, Macau, and parts of China. I almost wound up living in England too but never visit there before. I am going back to school in the fall and finally finish a degree. Then I am free to move anywhere I want to in the world. 3 places I plan on moving is 1.) Japan---I lived there before, I can speak and pick up on the language easier. I always have fun there. I have not got to spend as much time as I want to there ever. I have lots of great friends there too. So it’s hands down, my number 1 choice. 2.)Taipei---I only got to visit there for 3 days and had an awesome time there. it’s a really exciting and fun place. Don’t know the language but I’ll learn it. I only have a handful of friends in Taiwan but I’m sure I’ll make more if I am living there. 3.)---Hong Kong again. I spent time there and I know what to expect. I do have lots of good friends there too. I do have some bad memories there but the second time will be different. Right now I am counting my time in the US again down like a prison sentence….
If you wake up at a different time, in a different place, could you wake up as a different person??
Sometimes you have to go halfway around the world to come full circle.
