Notice Me Now....Notice Me Now....

About Me

“I’m still waiting for you to notice me now…notice me now.”
Is this a cry for attention? At first glance, perhaps. What band doesn’t want to be noticed? However, this line from Drop of Grey’s flagship modern rock single, “Waiting” speaks volumes about who they are as individuals, and why they play music.
Consider this: Do you notice the farm boy from small town Pennsylvania, or the blue collar 9 to 5 employee who makes sure your home theater system sounds just right? Do you notice the college student who is just another face in the crowd, or a low ranking member of the military? Do you notice the auto mechanic who has a shop just three blocks from you? Probably not.
Now let’s look at this from a different angle: Do you notice the spiky haired guitarist doing spin kicks across the entire stage, or the charismatic vocalist belting out your favorite song just 3 feet from your face? Do you notice the man in the back with one arm straight up in the air as he counts off the intro to the next song? Do you notice the other guitarist and bassist, with their dueling mohawks rocking out on the far side of the stage? Absolutely.
Vocalist Eric Musser, guitarists Ben Rider and Clint Goldschmidt, and drummer Ryan Kiscaden got their start in June of 2006, adding bassist Glenn Kitch in the fall of 2007. Together they have approached music and the music industry with a hard working, blue collar mentality. “If we write great music, put on an exciting stage show, and bust our asses promoting, the only logical conclusion is that we will get noticed,” says lead guitarist Ben Rider. It makes sense, right? As a blue collar worker, the best way to work ones way up the career ladder is to work harder than everyone else, and this in turn gets one noticed. This is the approach Drop of Grey has taken with their musical career.
Thus far, the work ethic has been paying off. Drop of Grey has played all of the top venues in Central Pennsylvania including The Chameleon Club, which was once voted as Mtv’s 1 live venue in America. In January of 2008, the band takes that work ethic into the studio to record their first EP. They will be recording at Saturation Acres where such national acts as Fuel and Breaking Benjamin have recorded. Following the recording, the band plans to tour regionally and nationally in support of the CD release.
“I’m still waiting for you to notice me now…notice me now.”
Now the line takes on a different dimension. Drop of Grey is more than your entertainment for the night, or the music in your CD player. They are you, and you want to be noticed for the things you do. What a different world this would be if thousands of people packed stadiums to watch you do what you do: till a field, fix some speakers, go to class, set up networks, or repair cars. We all know this is not how the world works, and this is why they do what they do. This is why…
“I’m still waiting for you to notice me now…notice me now.”
Press:
"After listening to the first 30 seconds of Waiting, I see no reason why this can't be played on rock radio. It's truly great."
- Grammy nominated Paul Chiacchierini; Racetrack Sound Studios
"Drop of Grey is a mid-state band that is definitely worth checking out. They formed in May 2005, and already have a huge fan-base. The heavy guitar work in "Waiting" and "Again" prove their status as an original rock band. Exciting guitar riffs break up the repetition and keep listeners interested"
- Mae Palmer; Pennlive.com
"Drop of Grey gives new meaning to the term heavy. Blasting out of the gate with "Leave It", they did not give you one moment to rest."
- Nick from the Doctors Office Awards
"These guys can entertain on a big or small stage. Their sound is very well defined and they are ready to surpise you. With all their energy I think of them as a "Ball of Fire" instead of just a "Drop Of Grey"
- Rachel Rocks; The Pennsyvania Musician Magazine June 2007
"It was great seeing Drop Of Grey back on a big stage where they can put all that Taurine to good use! Eric was back on top of his game leading every song, with Clint happily harmonizing on the side. Dan and Ben were definitely able to move around alot more and they took advantage of every empty space they had. Those guys definitely like to move. Eric's voice is so clear, with original music, its definitely a plus when you can actually understand the words. A couple of my favs were "Asleep" and "Unfaithful". They are so hyper, you really feel the positive energy flying off the stage."
