Songs man... Great songs are my Influence.
Rest In Peace and Pass the Peas...JAMES (Butane James and the Flames) BROWN.
The surreal Beauty of Marvin Gaye..just pick a song. Against All Odds... Phill Collins.
I'm gonna remake this soon. Nirvana..Just did a cover of one of my Fav Nirvana tunes. Look for it on ITUNES later this year. HENDRIX... I can only say that this dude was 1 of a kind and the ONLY SUPER ROCK STAR to have done it that way. Many will follow, none will come close. PRINCE... many have doubted but Mick Jagger had Faith back in 79..get a late pass- Oh yeah, Jaime Starr is a thief! I used to listen to Terrence Trent D'Arby and Sade and The Police in my 3 cd changer back in the day.
I always had a passion for Live Music/Bands and guitar driven music. I grew up in the seventies and eighties and watched music go from Bands to Soloists..from instruments to samplers. I was RAP and B Boy culture. I coveted Van Halen and Bowie. They were free to Jump and be Proud Amerikkkans. I was starting to suffocate in the Hood. Jimi gave me breath again. But NWA gave me courage. Hope for a better tomorrow as we learned to stand up for ourselves and to ourselves. But as the oppression changed faces we culturally got crossed up and lost favor with being Pro Black. So much so that rampant Black on Black crime has replaced our love for the anthems of positivity. Any Bastards of the Party out there? Sorry to rant. back to the point.
Neil Young!! Love dude..Albert King is what I sound like in my mind..or he sounds like what a Guitar/Bluesman sounds like and in my heart of hearts I wish I had his understanding with the instrument. Bob Marley and the ROCKERS sound. Outkast does it for me and J HOVA is about the most lyrically incredible single most influential cat to touch a mic. But PAC is my alltime. It's the pain we relate to. The joy inside the tears he shed. The early days were filled with Stevie Wonder moments on the turntable at my Uncle Aubrey's apartment. Little Michael Jackson would silence the room and then I would match him..note for note and never thought much of it. My pops liked Brooke Benton and Dinah Washington..so I liked them as well. He turned me on to Bill Withers and SAM COOKE.
I put on a Sam Cooke record now and it smokes anything I make today. That was a Prince of a Man. Journey Frontiers was the first and only cassette I purchased.. as I used to steal things when I was younger. Separate Ways was my song plus they were local boys. Level 42 Miles Davis ..woo hoo and BETTY DAVIS!! JOI and SLY with his Family of Stoners.
Aerosmith's Dream On is the single most reason I am a recording artist and I have to give a shout out to my all time favorite group.
PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC....Low and Behold, somebody's Funkin with the Mood Control... Pontius Peers Lend me Your Ears for it is I who steers this vessel of vocalz!
Big up to my unckle George Clinton.
