Conservative Christianity and post-hardcore scree may seem like the most disparate of extremes, but the post-screamo rock sextet Asperity has that juxtaposition beat. Asperity is tight and professional, and 5/6ths of its members are only juniors in high school. With an average age of 17, the Peoria-based pummelcore band (think: Underoath) stomps through five songs of lacerating riffage and throat-tearing screams along with melodic singing on its new EP, Writing the Pages. The message of the band is positive, although you'll need a "squeal lexicon" to debug the scream code embedded in the barbed vocals. Formally christened last January, Asperity started off like every other high school band rehearsing, playing shows, and posting some demos on MySpace. Formed in January of 06 our band Asperity has only grown way more then we have expected. We have had to make some changes with band members but it has turned out great. in april of 2006 we won the AZ battle of the bands, we won this after being a band for only 4 months. our reward came from EARLY NOVEMBER themselves. Every band member is fully commited to doing our best at shows making the crowds go crazy and putting on an amazing show for everyone to remember.
Asperity's music isn't made to sound different, or even the same as everyone else's. We write what we like and what we think YOU will likeAsperity is hoping to start their first tour this year, probably through California and maybe up the west coast more. Asperity would like to see the new places and venues out there. Find other bands that are like them and just make the best of life and music at such a young age.Asperity has had the privaledge of sharing the stage with such bands as Bless the Fall, The Cover Up, Alesana, Eyes Set to Kill, Calling Of Syrens, A Day To Remember, Four Letter Lie, Greeley Estates, A Change Of Pace, A Skylit Drive, A Kiss For New Jersey, Catherine, The Human Abstract, Athalia, and many more bands.
