Laken started singing at the tender age of fourteen months, surprising her parents with a version of “Rock A-Bye Babyâ€. From there she continued to develop her love of music by singing with the children’s choir at her church, performing solos and duets. She has worked with Community Theatre of Greensboro and High Point Theatre, performing in productions, which include, Wizard of Oz, Beauty & the Beast, Peter Pan, Footloose, and Grease. In addition to working with the triad’s local theatres she has performed the National Anthem for the City of Greensboro Swim Association and Greensboro College. Laken has also been a performer for the Barn Dinner Theatre, appearing in the productions of Groovin, Home for the Holidays and the 2008 production of Band of Angles, where she played the roles of Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn. In the fall of 2007 she worked as a back-up singer with Stephen Freemen and Echoes of a Legend Band that opened for the Charlie Daniel’s Band concert in Virginia.
