About Me

Matt was born in Bellevue Washington in November of 1969. Moved alot and ended up in Roswell Georgia, where he discovered music of all forms. A horn player through Middle and High School with a tad bit of piano. For about 2 and a half years he sang with his first band Ploughshare 8 (Remenber it was the 80's) where he learned the basics of song writing with great friends like Keith Cocking. At 20 he moved to Fresno Callifornia to live and care for his Grandmother. This is where it all really began for Matt. He picked up the guitar full time and began to write some great sapp. At 21 he broke his hip and under great medication wrote even better sapp. When he could walk again he formed the fun loving "Love Hamster" (Don't ask.). Brett Porter and Darin Klein filled out everything Matt had put together. At 22 Matt got married and was given a muse to write about. Unfortunatly the muse left but he still wrote about her anyway. Love Hamster disbanded in 1993 and Matt joined the band Puddle that allowed him just to sing and write. Unfortunatly Puddle dried up and Matt moved back to Atlanta in 1995 where he lived until 1999. No real music during that time, he blames the Prozac. In 2000 he moved to Beaverton Oregon where he met the only woman who would put up with him. He has preformed the local Portland sceen eversince and punished many audiences with his mastered sapp. In 2006 he formed "Mr. Hooper is Dead" with fellow musicians Kai and Jimmy Martin. Both great song writers on their own, but for some reason they wanted to play with Matt. He continues to write sapp and play here in Portland.(L.O.T.G.A.O.S.C.) Mitchell D. Brotanski
