The Screwtape Letters formed in Springfield MO early 2007 and are quickly garnering attention in the midwest music community following the release of "The Court of Morene," a 3-song demo showcasing the groups' epic conceptually based writing style. Set in a fictional universe inspired by the work of authors such as Isaac Asimov and J.R.R Tolkien, each song represents chapters in an ongoing narrative, mainly told from the viewpoint of the protagonist, a character named Phoenix.
Combining this with a variety of musical influences ranging from such acts as Lamb of God, Coheed and Cambria, Iron Maiden and fellow midwestern hardcore/metal/screamo bands, The Screwtape Letters strive to bring a new level of depth and a grand scope to the ever growing world of heavy music as well as putting on an unforgettable live show.
