Q (of Closed Caption) has been
rapping since grammar school, when the teachers would
allow him and his partner in rhyme, G-Wiz, to do raps
instead of standard school projects. Now fully grown,
Q possesses a complex flow reminiscent of Bun B and
Eminem, with a deep commanding voice that recalls a
young Juvenile. But with one listen at his
storytelling capabilities, witty flow, and
well-thought song structure you'll realize that he has
a style all his own. Q released his first album,
"Thinkin Out Loud", on Future Shock Records in 2003.
"Thinkin Out Loud" gave listeners a first glance into
Q's world, and also featured a special guest
appearance by Mississippi rap legends Reese&Bigalow.
It was during this time that Q won the award for Best
New Artist at the 1st Annual Mississippi Hip-Hop
Awards. While "Thinkin Out Loud" gained him a strong
street fanbase, it would be Q's contribution to Future
Shock Records 2004 label compilation "The Shock: Shock
Muzik vol. 1" that would give Q his first step towards
major exposure. The album's 1st single "Jump(Right
Cheek, Left Cheek) quickly became a strip club
favorite and recieved heavy airplay in Mississippi, as
well as Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and several stations
in Florida. Q and his labelmates were also featured in
the prestigous Ozone magazine twice: once in the
Patiently Waiting section, and also featured in the
album reviews section. After touring and traveling
extensively through 2005 and 2006, Q was featured
prominently on Mississippi's Mixtape King G-Boogie's
series of mixtapes, which cemented Q's name amongst
the greats that have come from Mississippi. Q is about
to drop his new mixtape, titled Talk of the Town 2,
and through all his trials and learning experiences in
the game, he is ready to take the rap world to the
next level. MyHotComments / HotFreeLayouts
