You know, I first put a really sarcastic comment here, but that pretty much makes me seem like some jerk. So... here's my interests:
Loving Music... whether it be listening to it or talking about it, I don't care.
Writing and maybe getting something published.
Living life without worries. That's, um.... not going to happen anytime soon, I don't think. But here's hoping.
I just want to keep in touch with people and maybe make a few new friends. That's it.
I listen to everything, except for country. Because that sucks (except for the old stuff, like Johnny Cash). But whatever. Here's what I'm listening to right now, since my music collection is constantly growing, changing, and whatnot:
Tool (all albums), Iggy Pop (The Essential...), Johnny Cash (American IV, V, and VI), AFI (Sing the Sorrow), The Ramones (Loud, Fast, It's the...), Soundgarden (Down on the Upside, Superunknown), Rage Against the Machine (Battle of Los Angeles), Audioslave (Revelations), Bloc Party (Weekend in the City, Silent Alarm), Bruce Springsteen (The Rising), Neil Young (Harvest), A Perfect Circle (Mer de Noms, 13th Step), Derek and the Dominoes (Layla and Other...), Cream (Strange Brew), Eric Clapton (Unplugged), Sting (Ten Summoner's Tales, Dream of the Blue Turtles), The Police (Best of...), U2 (How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb), Talking Heads (Stop Making Sense), System of a Down (Mesmerize/Hypnotize), Alkaline Trio (Crimson, Good Mourning), The Nightwatchman (One Man Revolution), Avenged Sevenfold (City of Evil), Beastie Boys (Licensed to Ill), Beck (The Information, Guero), Billy Talent (II), Blink-182 (Blink-182), Flogging Molly (Within A Mile of Home), The Real McKenzies (10,000 Shots), Bob Dylan (Time Out of Mind, Modern Times, Blood on the Tracks), The Distillers (Coral Fang), Dropkick Murphies (Boston's Finest), Temple of the Dog, Pearl Jam, Garbage (Bleed Like Me), He Is Legend (I Am Hollywood), Bush, Louis XIV (The Best Little Secrets Are Kept), Matisyahu (King Without A Crown), She Wants Revenge, Sean Lennon (Dead Meat), Stone Temple Pilots (Core), Helmet (Meantime), Smashing Pumpkins, The Offspring, Queens of the Stone Age (Era Vulgaris, Lullabies to Paralyze), the Eagles of Death Metal, Primus, David Bowie, Rammstein, the Beatles (White Album, Revolver), the Doors, the Rolling Stones, XTC, The Smiths, Blue October, Nine Inch Nails (The Fragile, The Downward Spiral, Year Zero, With Teeth, Pretty Hate Machine), Screaming Trees (Sweet Oblivion, Dust), Kaiser Chiefs (Yours, Truly, Angry Mob, Employment), Modest Mouse (We Were Dead...), Black Light Burns, Incubus (Light Grenades), Pink Floyd (The Wall, Echoes: Best of...) and tons, tons more.
So, basically, my music taste varies wildly. This is all stuff that has been in or near my mp3 player for months. I listen to everything from ambient electronic to hardcore metal to indie rock to the vocal stylings of Saul Williams (he's amazing).Would I like to make music? Perhaps someday. I'm more likely that guy that's going to sit around and silently critique everyone's musicianship without having a reason to. Why? Because I can.
I love movies. I'm a big fan of high concept sci fi movies (not stuff like Star Wars); stuff that takes place in a future not dissimilar to ours. I find the idea of technology gone bad fascinating, especially since I can so easily see it happening.
So pretty much, whatever you show me, I'll probably like. Except for period pieces. With a few exceptions, I'm not a big fan of those. Well... mostly just not a fan of period pieces. Yeah.
Yeah, not too much time to watch tv lately. When I can, I watch something like The Simpsons, Seinfeld (that show was genius... on occasion), or something on Adult Swim--you know, Family Guy, The Brak Show, Venture Bros, Robot Chicken, or Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Metalocalypse. See, I may have an intelligent side (screw it, I do have an intelligent side...) but I also like the goofy, pop culture reference laden humor of late night Cartoon Network. Yeah. I made a touchdown.
I love reading, have since I was little. Unfortunately, since I've been working and going to school, I haven't had much time to read. A lot of my time reading has been spent reading Shakespeare (not that that's a bad thing... I really enjoy the way he characterizes through use of plot). In terms of fiction, my favorite authors are Stephen King, Stephen R. Donaldson, and Neil Gaiman. That can always change, though, and I'm constantly exploring different authors and different types of fiction. Recently, I've found that I really enjoy William Gibson and hate John Irving.
Tom Morello, Zach de la Rocha, Trent Reznor, Neil Gaiman, Hunter S. Thompson, Truman Capote and John Steinbeck.
