The age thingy at the top of the page, that's just how long Talisman has been in business. I wish I was 30, that seems ages ago!
Talisman Associates was started in 1976 by Naomi right after the Viet Nam War. She started the company with $50 and bought her first beads retail. Our first product line was Liquid Silver Jewelry in American Indian style, sold mostly to beach shops. There is still a big bag of jewelers grade liquid silver in the depths of the safe! From there a bead store was opened and it progressed into two stores, then to wholesaling. Our show circuit was not started until Naomi's children were grown and in college. When Laura (her daughter) came back from college and started working with her, the business really took off. Today Talisman does about 120 shows a year and has representatives all over the country. A lot of our product line is imported direct. Naomi is now looking to retire (or at least cut way back on working). Her basic hobby is flea marketing or thrifting.
