Every Wednesday night, West Valley College's jazz department hosts a jazz jam session at the Theatre on San Pedro Square from 8pm to 11pm. Each week we schedule a house band that consists of drums, bass, piano, guitar, and saxophone or trumpet. It is a great opportunity to network with local jazz musicians and hear some free live jazz on a Wednesday evening.

We occasionally schedule a special guest musician to sit in with the house band. So far, we've had the pleasure of meeting and playing with John Shifflett, Wayne Wallace, Weber Iago, John Worley, Wally Schnalle, John Stowell, Marcus Shelby, and Jamie Davis. During the summer, we are planning to have one guest artist each month! Mark your calendars now for the jam session with legendary guitarist Calvin Keys on August 20!! Calvin will be joined by John Shifflett on bass and Joe DeRose on drums.
