Lecture began rhyming in his native city of El Cajon, Ca in the early to mid 90's accompanied by long time friend known as "Arkatak".Influenced by many of the underground artist which were very popular around that time, he started off on a quest that included a $30.00 karaoke machine, a pop filter made from industrial steel and nylon accompanied with only a cheap microphone hoisted from the ceiling. Although both were from very humble homes, these kids believed they had everything they needed in a studio. The duo sharpened they're skills daily until eventually Arkatak moved to Texas and began his reign in the southwest. In 1995 one the worlds most prolific and formidable poets in the world known at the time as "Dyfine" and later recognized as "Ghengis Kahn" took Lecture under his wing and taught him the essence of being an underground emcee. He also taught him the principles to live by in the underground and how this sub-society worked. Lecture, Ghengis Kahn and a another fear'd rhyme sayer by the name of "Autopsy" traveled across San Diego from studio to studio begging for beats, freestyling on college radio stations, and performing at small shows. They completed a handful of songs that today are still revered as some of the hardest underground music around. Unfortunately, Ghengis Kahn's genius like mind, which helped him create some of the most impressive lyrical accomplishments ever heard, also helped to drive him literally mad and eventually turned him into a recluse where he struggles day to day in having an above average brain, in a mildy retarded society. The vanishing of Ghengis Kahn was the first step in Lecture ultimately making 95% solo recordings from that point on. Few people hold the early day recording gems and Lecture is not one of them.Lecture went on to establish a small scale studio with the help of good friends and also become a recluse making music on Sycuan reservation for himself and the RezHeads. Over the years the Rezheads became famous for throwing the best parties around at that time. It was always funny when the beer rappers would step into the booth and try "lay something down" which was an old pastime at the house. From what Lecture tells me it was a big blur and many of the songs created was a reflection of the good times had at the place known as "Boo's house" (R.I.PIECES)Since the indefinite decline of music and the ever increasing popularity of terrible and souless mainstream hip hop, Lecture began to lose interest over the years and was disgusted and saddend at how watered down, ignorant, and empty alot of hip hop had become garnered by the fact everyone and they're mom became emcees because it was the popular thing to do, he then disengaged in music, maybe or maybe not to return one day. What Lecture brings to the table is powerful language gymnastics, varied and difficult deliveries, and at times very and insightful message (if you can keep up).Lecture believes you can teach a baby to rhyme and he might even sound alright over a catchy beat, but what Lecture and his colleagues execute is in terms of depth, a classification quite a bit above the other 2,435.5 vocalist per sq mile of every city. Lecture's intent has never been for monetary purposes or popularity it was about the art and the good, brilliantly creative people, that came along with it.
