DEJUAN BLUNTRap ArtistThe art form of Hip Hop is one that skeptics said would only be a fly-by-night fad. Some 20 years later, it is amazing to see that the naysayers have been proven wrong, and there is one young man who plans to take the industry by storm. A native Atlantan, DeJuan Blunt is one of the metro area’s up coming rap artists. After honing his skills as a hobby with friends, it was discovered that DeJuan had more than just a smooth method of putting words to a beat. Today, he is determined to use his style of rap as a way to not only add to the music industry, but to help his family as well. The oldest of four children, DeJuan watched his single mom, Vanessa, struggle as an Cn in her efforts to help take care of her family. DeJuan’s emergence on the Hip Hop scene is his blueprint for success.Rapping for 3 years, DeJuan remembers being encouraged and given tutelage by Atlanta rapper Kilo Ali. “He shared a lot with me about the industry, and I can now look back and appreciate what he tried to instill within me,” says Blunt. The advice given is playing a key role in the way he handles his approach towards achieving success in the industry.As he launches his career, DeJuan looks forward to creating music that will “bring the party vibe back to the game.” He says, “I’m an entertainer; I don’t rap about shooting or drugs because I realize the negative impact it has on the younger generation. Instead, I rap about dancing and partying. Young people enjoy having fun, and I enjoy bringing that part of our livelihood to the forefront.”DeJuan views every day of his life as a blessing. This is rightfully so, especially considering the fact that his life was almost cut short two years ago when, as an innocent bystander, he became the victim of a shooting. He recalls, “The bullet entered my back and traveled through my neck into my right cheek. The doctor told me I was blessed and that they (he and the other doctors) were puzzled as to why the accident didn’t kill me. From that day on, I was proud of being alive.”Ever-hopeful as he endeavors to achieve his goal, Blunt does so with the quote that he has taken personal credit for, “Aim for the moon because if you fail you should be among the stars.” For DeJuan Blunt, the sky is the limit and he’s definitely aiming in the right direction.
