About Me

I live in Japan. Woop! I've lived in a town called Ariake for about a year. It's a little boring sometimes because it's such a small town. I've managed to keep busy, though. I work as an ALT (that's "Assistant Language Teacher" for the uninitiated) at one junior high school and two elementary schools. Elementary is fun, but really tiring. Junior high is a little dull sometimes since we have to use the textbook quite a bit, but the kids are smart (some days, anyway). I frequently go out drinking with the staff on the weekends, and when that's not going on, you can probably find me at a bar called Neon in downtown Shimabara.
In my free time at home, I like to annoy the piss out of my neighbors by playing my guitar way too loudly. It's great. Either they just don't give a shit, or they are too damn Japanese to come to my apartment and tell me to knock it off. I also watch movies loudly, listen to music loudly, and watch internet porn at max volume. I'm a terrible neighbor, and you'd better pray that when I come back to America, I don't move in next to you.
I have several photos of my adventures in Japan up on Flickr, so if you want to see, you can have a look here. www.flickr.com/photos/superfission . I even hyperlinked it for you lazy fuckers. Sorry, I'm too lazy/cheap to get a real account, so I'm limited to 200 pictures that can be displayed at any given time. Whatever. I guess you'll just have to check it often if you want to see everything.

My Interests

Well, if we were talking, I might think you were interesting if you started talking about the following:
1) Music of any kind - if it isn't music that I like, I can always make fun of you.
2) Movies - see above.
3) Video Games - However, I absolutely do not want to hear about your WoW character great detail or any other super-nerd equivalent (this is to prevent me from flying off the handle in a jealous fit of nerd rage), nor do I want to hear about the dirty hentai games that you play when you think no one is looking. You make baby Jesus cry with that shit.
4) Japan or Japanese - I live here so, you know, I must think that it's at least mildly interesting.
5) Why I'm so cool. I mean, it's this huge fucking mystery which no one seems to be capable of unraveling. I would appreciate any insight concerning this matter.

I'd like to meet:

People who listen to the same crappy music that I listen to.
Anyone who lives in or near Shimabara, Japan. Let's party.
Anyone who was directed here from my Facebook page. Myspace is infinitely better. You'll see.

Music:

Ken Yokoyama theme post, bitches! You guys remember punk rock, right?

Ten Years From Now

Believer

Running On The Winding Road

My list of bands fluctuates so much that I just decided to get rid of it. If you really want to know what I listen to, you can just ask me. You'll probably wish you hadn't, though.

Movies:

I own: 40 Year Old Virgin, Anchorman, The Blood Brothers: Jungle Rules Live DVD, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, FF7: Advent Children, Goodfellas, Hong Kong 1941, Kill Bill Volumes 1 and 2, King of Comedy, Kung Fu Mania box set, The Last Samurai, Legend of Drunken Master, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Lost In Translation, Memento, Michael Gondry's music videos, Nacho Libre, Napoleon Dynamite, The Occult History of the Third Reich (joke gift!!), Pulp Fiction, The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, School of Rock, Seven, Shaun of the Dead, The Shawshank Redemption, Snatch, Spirited Away, Star Trek: Insurrection, Super Troopers, Thank You For Smoking, UFC Hits (joke gift, but awesome!), Vampire Effect, I think there are some that I'm forgetting.
Be Kind, Rewind - Yes! Yes! Oh my god, YES!

Television:

The Office, Heroes, Lost, Extras, Psych, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Death Note, Arrested Development, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Aqua Teen, South Park, Wacky Japanese tv (tm), etc...

Books:

Unweaving The Rainbow by prominent secular humanist/rationalist/atheist (or whatever it is these days) Richard Dawkins. It gets a little bit "science textbook" in some chapters, but that's kind of what it's about. That is, demonstrating the beauty of science in response to those who think that scientific explanations make the universe seem like it's cold, bland, and depressing. It talks about a lot of things that we don't usually think about. For instance, the shear size of the universe or the mind-boggling probabilities that we had to overcome simply to be born.

Heroes:

With the exception of their music, I like everything about these guys. They're so charming and goofy. They can also throw puns around like nobody's business. Anyway, here's MOTHER FUCKING GWAR on the Joan Rivers Show.
I about died when they started laughing way too hard at Joan's crack about the Sally Jesse.
