Be Existential

Please people, understand that Sartre is not an Existentialist!!! He was a joke of a man who stole Kierkegaard's Aestetics and screwed them up. True Existentialism is not criterion-less truths!! I Repeat, Not criterion-less truths! If you are an Ayn Rand fan please read Kierkegaard before you cast judgements on Existentialism - Trust me.

Kierkegaard

B ut in the midst of the brave show of the generations, one easily perceives the despondency and cowardice of the individuals. Just as desert travellers combine into great caravans from fear of robbers and wild beasts, so the individuals of the contemporary generation are fearful of existence, because it is God-foraken: only in great masses do they dare to live, and they cluster together en masse in order to feel they amount to something.

- Concluding Unscientific Postscript ~ Con'd ~

O nly by paying sharp attention to myself can I come to realize how a historical individuality acted when he was living, and I understand him only when I keep him alive in my understanding and do not, as children do, break up the clock in order to understand the life in it, and do not, as speculative thoughts does, change him into something totally different in order to understand him. But what it is to live I cannot learn from him as someone dead and gone. I must experience that for myself, and therefore I must understand myself, not the reverse: after first having world-historically misunderstood him now to go further and allow this misunderstanding to help me understand myself, as if I, too, were dead and gone.

- Concluding Unscientific Postscript

T his self-establishing envy is levelling, and while a passionate age accelerates, raises, and topples, extols and oppresses, a reflective, passionless ages does the opposite - it stifles and impedes, it levels

- The Present Age

W hat is reasoning? It is the result of doing away with the vital distinction which separates subjectivity and objectivity.

- The Present Age

H ence anxiety is the dizziness of freedom, which emerges when the spirit wants to posit the synthesis and freedom looks down into possibility, laying hold of finiteness to support itself. Freedom succumbs in this dizziness. Further than this, psychology cannot and will not go. In that very moment everything is changed, and freedom, when it again rises, sees that it is guilty. Between these two moments lies the leap, which no science has explained and which no science will explain.

- Concept of Anxiety

T o understand a speech is one thing, and to understand what it refers to, namely, the personal, is something else; for a man to understand what he himself says is one thing, and to understand himself in what is said is something else.

- Concept of Anxiety

W hat is it, then, that I distinguish in my either/or? Is it good and evil? No, I would only bring you up to the point where the choice between the evil and the good acquires significance for you. Everything hinges upon this . . . yea, no young girl can be so happy with the choice of her heart as is a man who knows how to choose. So then, one either has to live aesthetically or one has to live ethically. In this alternative, as I have said, there is not yet in the strictest sense any question of a choice; for he who lives aesthetically does not choose"

- Either/Or

E very human existence that is not conscious of itself as spirit or conscious of itself before God as spirit, every human existence that does not rest transparently in God but vaguely rests in and merges in some abstract universality (state, nation, etc.) or, in the dark about his self, regards his capacities merely as powers to produce without becoming deeply aware of their source, regards his self, if it is to have intrinsic meaning, as an indefinable something, every such existence, whatever it achieves, be it the most amazing, whatever it explains, be it the whole of existence, however intensively it enjoys life esthetically, every such existence is nevertheless despair.

Tolkien

"In doubt a man of worth will trust to his own wisdom."

~ Con'd ~

D ear Sir
I said — Although now long estranged,
Man is not wholly lost nor wholly changed.
Dis-graced he may be, yet is not de-throned.
and keeps the rags of lordship once he owned:
Man, Sub-creator, the refracted Light
through whom is splintered from a single White
to many hues, and endlessly combined
in living shapes that move from mind to mind.
Though all the crannies of the world we filled
with Elves and Goblins, though we dared to build
Gods and their houses out of dark and light,
and sowed the seed of dragons—‘twas our right
(used or misused). That right has not decayed:
we make still by the law in which we're made’.

Nietzsche

A criticism of decadence morality - An 'altruistic' morality, a morality under which egoism languishes - is under all circumstances a bad sign. This applies to individuals, it applies especially to peoples. The best are lacking when egoism begins to be lacking. To choose what is harmful to oneself, to be attracted to 'disinterested' motives almost constitutes the formula for decadence. 'Not to seek ones own advantage' - that is merely a moral figleaf for a quite different, namely physiological facts: 'I no longer know how to find my advantage'... Disgregation of the instincts!. Man is finished when he becomes ALTRUISTIC, - instead of saying simply I am no longer worth anything', the moral lie in the mouth of the decadent says: 'Nothing is worth anything - LIFE IS NOT WORTH ANYTHING'..."

Ayn Rand

A nd then there's your 'brother-love' morality. Why is it moral to serve others, but not yourself? If enjoyment is a value, why is it moral when experienced by others, but not by you? Why is it immoral to produce something of value and keep it for yourself, when it is moral for others who haven't earned it to accept it? If it's virtuous to give, isn't it then selfish to take? Your acceptance of the code of selflessness has made you fear the man who has a dollar less than you because it makes you feel that that dollar is rightfully his. You hate the man with a dollar more than you because the dollar he's keeping is rightfully yours. Your code has made it impossible to know when to give and when to grab...

~ Con'd ~

You know that you can't give away everything and starve yourself. You've forced yourselves to live with undeserved, irrational guilt. Is it ever proper to help another man? No, if he demands it as his right or as a duty that you owe him. Yes, if it's your own free choice based on your judgment of the value of that person and his struggle. This country wasn't built by men who sought handouts. In its brilliant youth, this country showed the rest of the world what greatness was possible to Man and what happiness is possible on Earth."

"Earth, sky, scenery
Here she comes back again
Men of straw, snooker hall
Words that build or destroy
Dirt, dry bones, sand and stone
Barbed wire fence cut me down
I'd like to be around
In a spiral staircase
to the higher ground
And I, like a firework, explode
Roman candle lightening lights up the sky
In cracked streets trampled underfoot
Side step, sidewalk
I see you stare into the space
Have I got closer now behind the face
Oh, tell me, cherry you dance with me
Turn me around tonight
Up through the spiral staircase
To the higher ground
Slideshow of a seaside town
Coca-cola, football
Radio, radio, radio, radio, radio, radio"

About Me - From Me

Federalist Paper #1 - An enlightened zeal for the energy and efficiency of government will be stigmatized as the offspring of a temper fond of despotic power and hostile to the principles of liberty.

~ Expand ~

An over-scrupulous jealousy of danger to the rights of the people, which is more commonly the fault of the head than of the heart, will be represented as mere pretense and artifice, the stale bait for popularity at the expense of the public good. It will be forgotten, on the one hand, that jealousy is the usual concomitant of love, and that the noble enthusiasm of liberty is apt to be infected with a spirit of narrow and illiberal distrust. On the other hand, it will be equally forgotten that the vigor of government is essential to the security of liberty; that, in the contemplation of a sound and well-informed judgment, their interest can never be separated; and that a dangerous ambition more often lurks behind the specious mask of zeal for the rights of the people than under the forbidden appearance of zeal for the firmness and efficiency of government. History will teach us that the former has been found a much more certain road to the introduction of despotism than the latter, and that of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people; commencing demagogues, and ending tyrants

We must vindicate the Rights of Man! It is time once again to instill the values of Capitalism,(the natural economy of the individual), Small but energetic Federal and State Government, and most of all the Inalienable Rights that each individual is endowed with by their creator. The nobility of man is at stake. Shall the State be higher then the individual in which the socialist has his entire thought bent upon? Shall Kierkegaard's prophetic warning in his: "Tale of Two Ages", of a levelling, socialistic society, come true again as it did in Europe with the U.S.S.R and Nazi Germany? Please, please, America begs you, my heroic friends, pleads with you, bring the nobility of man back! I challenge you this night, you descendents of liberty, to come to her aid in her must desperate hour. Rise up! I say rise up, and reduce to laughter all those who would tear men down. Reduce to laughter all those who punish the man of achievement. Strip the charlaten of his deceitful cloak and reveal to the world the false prophets that subside within the baseless media, advertisement trollops, carnarding artists, and most of all the philosophers and priests of altruism!
