Sounds Like: We Demand, Dictatorship Reviews -The immediate reaction to "We Demand, Dictatorship" may be to dismiss it as yet another artist trying to be the UK-based equivalent of Green-Day, with its provocative song titles. However, the carefully crafted lyrics combined with the unforgettable music distinguish this from the over-populated political rock genre. Whereas "Politics" provides an interesting insight into the appeal of political affairs to the younger generation (or rather lack of) by using confrontational lyrics, "Youth" offers a broader view of the teenage mindset, something which has only really been replicated in the past by older bands. The personal thoughts of a generation are contained within these songs, and provide an outlet which the majority of young people today can relate to. "I Write Songs Not Essays" contains haunting melodies which, combined with the lyrics expressing a lack of interest in the current education system, make this song one of the most memorable on the demo, and ensure that the tune will follow you for the rest of the day! "So Sick" provides the pop-rock song of the album, as well as displaying a message of angry teenaged angst. "Freedumb", the last track of the demo is definitely worth waiting to get to. The up-tempo number delivers strong and memorable lyrics, and gives the cue to start the whole CD again, which is certainly recommended. Overall, the content of the songs (complete with complimentary artwork), combined with the intelligent use of vocals and music make this CD one of the best demos to be released by such a new artist. The fact that all of the material is written by one person is astounding. Any further developments by Antony Arcuri should be followed in the future, as this demo proves.Carl Shooter - 15th May 2007
