Most young African American males born in the streets usually have the odds stacked against them. But not Howard Taylor III. aka Da Hurt. He proves that adversity means strength of character, determination, and the will to survive. Da Hurt was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1988. He and his family moved to the infamous "South Side" of Chicago. As a youth, he was exposed to a violent neighborhood. He witnessed gang violence and done his share in gang related activities. His father has been incarcerated for most of his childhood, But that didn't stop his determination as he overcame those very daunting obstacles of people doubting his abilities. Howard Taylor aka Da Hurt drowned himself into basketball, and hip hop music. He grew up listening to the all time hip hop greats: Slick Rick, Big L, Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. His love of music drove him to enroll in music classes at his local high school and he started perfecting his rapping skills and poetry writing. At the young age of 19, Da Hurt has done and experienced more in his life than most. He's ready to share his experience, through rap, through poetry with the world. Unfortunately, on August 13, 2007, The Hurt was gunned down in a senseless act of violence. Please keep Howard in your thoughts and prayers. This page will be updated with further details as they become available.
