Music is my Blanket

About Me

My parents are british so I communicate thru sarcasm. I grew up in the country so I appreciate the great outdoors. I live in Toronto because I love the diversity and energy of the city. My time is worth more than money. People and the time that I spend with those I care about is much more important to me than anything you could ever buy me. Brand names and labels are for suckers...who you are inside is what counts and I'd take indie over mainstream in a heartbeat. If you don't live thru and for music...I am not sure we can be friends.

Music:

MyGen Profile Generator

This 32 Bit Lolita loves anything house! I am an electrosexual who loves her Progressive, Tech House, Tribal, Electro...if it's dirty, gritty and/or funky and doesn't kill me with cheese vocals, I'm all over it! Have a bit of a crush on Lee Burridge at the mo...cause the minimal chunky gritty proggy electro tech house in his sets is just soooooooo good. Also, I am currently diggin the sounds of Steve Lawler, Desyn Masiello, Nic F, Chris Lake, Funkagenda, John Dahlback, Amo & Naves, D-Nox & Beckers, Jon Gurd, Rhythm Code, Anton Neumark, Phatjack, Presslaboys, Remy, Rene Amesz, Danny Howells, Derek Howells (for sompin pretty)and of course local faves...Aaron Mossey, Brad Copeland, Nathan Barato, Simon J and Dekoze; Throw in some dirty progressive breaks to mix it all up and this girl is happy. Respect to the old school dance tunes: Guy Called Gerald, 808 State, KLF. Brit Pop - Manchester Madness got me into the electronic scene back in the late eighties so I still hold it very close to my heart. Insp Carpets, Mock Turtles, Ride, Northside, Stone Roses, The Farm, South, Gene, Beautiful South...la la la; Trip hop, jazz or chillout - cause everyone has to slow it down once and a while. Tosca, Bent, Immi (Frou Frou), Groove A, Weekend Players, Kosheen, Terrenova, Royksopp, Brazilian Girls, Krud & Dorf, Sigur Ros, Thievery Corp, Zero 7, Orbital, Esthero, Eastern Sun, Sigur Ros, Badmarsh and Shri, Morcheeba, Hooverphonic, Decoder Ring, Koop, Telepopmuzik, llorca, ...and the older stuff... Single Gun Theory, Enigma, Chicane, Mandalay. Can't forget the angry chick stuff for nostalgia: Whale, Lush, Elastica, Homeboy, Breeders, Luscious J, Raggadeath, Republica (okay, I went thru a phase)... And all the other stuff... Arctic Monkeys, Elbow, Action Action, The Bluetones, The Doves, Bright Eyes, Elefant, Beluah, Pipas, Death Cab for Cutie, The Radio, Eels, Embrace, Keane, Essex Green, Camera Obscura, Midlake, Badly Drawn Boy, Nick Drake, Regina Spektor, Silversun Pickups, Dressy Bessy, Space, Nizlopi, Baby Dayliner, 13 & God, Notwist, Something for Rockets, The Stars, Broken Social Scene, Mint Royale, The Dears, Beluah, Phoenix, The 6ths, September 67, New Pornographers, The Lucksmiths, Longview, Beirut, Magnetic Fields, Architecture in Helsinki,...and the list goes on. Fave new local band...Spiral Beach. Everyone in TO should catch these kids live...and I do mean kids.

Movies:

MyGen Profile Generator Slapshot, Caddyshack and This is Spinal Tap top my list. A day that includes sharing a 'Slapshot' moment with a stranger is one I always cherish.

Television:

MyGen Profile Generator Can't say I care much for tele these days. All a bunch of reality shite. I'd prefer to watch The Prisoner on DVD to help remind me of how far we have fallen when it comes to TV programming. If I had to pick something more current that would keep me amused ... Arrested Development (RIP), Frontiers of Contrustion or anything nerdy on Discovery Channel.

Books:

MyGen Profile Generator Count of Monte Cristo - Anyone who is that patient regarding their vengence has to be a scorpio....and I appreciate and can get behind the inner workings of the scorpio;

Heroes:

MyGen Profile Generator Without a doubt...my mom and my sister.
