Founded in 2001 by guitarist Tim Facoory (formerly of “Humanâ€) and drummer Quentin Forster, Tainted has become a true premier band in the New Zealand metal scene. Tainted finalised their line-up by adding bassist Sean McCurrie (formerly guitarist in “Dementia†and “Crisisâ€) and guitarist/vocalist Nick King (formally drummer in “Wartâ€) in October 2004, recorded a 7-track demo, and burst onto the stage mid-2005 and blew audiences away with their relentlessly energetic performances.
By the end of that year 2005 Tainted had played shows with New Zealand heavyweights “Sinate†and “8 Foot Sativaâ€, and recorded their debut album “The Awakening†at Blast Studios with the assistance of Sinate’s Sam Sheppard in the role of producer.
“The Awakening†debuted in the top 10 in the New Zealand independent charts and also featured their first video, “Brokenâ€, and also the popular song “Take the Kingâ€, featuring 8 Foot Sativa’s first vocalist, Justin “Jackhammer†Niessen sharing the microphone with frontman Nick King.
A very busy 2006 saw Tainted play all over New Zealand in support of their album, as well as hitting the road once again with Sinate, and Australia’s “State of Integrity†and none other than NZ rock legends Blindspott on the “End the Silence†tour. Tainted were also behind the very successful, two-show Kiwi metal weekend “When Winter Reigns†which involved an all-ages as well as an R18 show.
2007 has seen the band line up change with the departure of Nick King and the recruitment of Campbell Jenkins (SLIM) on Vocals and Linly Baxter on guitar duties. Fans can expect a brutal new take on some older tunes, as well as some exciting new material unlike anything in their back catalogue.
2007 will see Tainted continue to play shows all around New Zealand as well as enter the studio to start work on their second album.
