About Me

Create Your OwnI have an awesome capacity for grind. But I believe toowe work to live rather than live to work. I have this lifelong fitness and health gig going on, so exercise daily if I can. I dip in and out of music, performing & visual arts circuit, love movies. Did I say I loved movies? Value family, friends and socialising, good food and wine, exercising my mind and getting clear of city spaces when I can to rejuvenate in nature. You can take country girls to the world's major urban metropolis's for their adult lives but they still yearn for greenery and scenery?Besides inheriting a faulty gene for hard work, I inherited my father's dry humour and our family's love of being active and engaged with the world and their slice of paradise. I like to read and have more books, magazines, papers.. blog and RSS feeds etc than I ever have a hope of finishing. I love a good tangent. This means I have to write everything down or I can't remember it.Other interests? Music, entertainment, alternative health, the arts, new technology and how it intersects with communications, the country, multiple urban pursuits and happenings,.. sport from rugby union to sumo to cycling to yoga...

I'd like to meet:

Nelson Mandela and the late Sir Edmund Hillary define lifelong humility despite their towering achievements. Dinner with JG Ballard, William Gibson and Iaian Banks would be humbling. Clive Owen and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Malcolm Gladwell. Helen Mirren. The Free Hugs guy. Jonah Lomu and Tana Umaga and who wouldn't want to meet Dan Carter? The people who started The Onion. My ex-colleague Cathy and all of my friends around the planet, together for a big weekend of talking and laughing.People in communications and technology, internet publishing/media & online communications, social media & online marketing, thinking outside the box -this evolving world. People whose intelligence outstrips their ego, smart entrepreneurs, lateral business thinkers, spiritually evolved people. Anyone who likes their humour dry.

Music:

I started out as a newspaper reporter handed the music and entertainment reviewing gig. I was 20 years old and paid OVERTIME to attend and review concerts I wouldn't have been able to afford. Thank you, thank you, thank you... I have everything from hip-hop to opera. The only thing that doesn't make my heart sing is jazz, which is a shame, but that's the way it is.

Movies:

Downfall, The Queen,Thank You For Smoking, The Lives of Others, As It Is In Heaven, Michael Clayton, Death at a Funeral. Before the Devil Knows You're Dead was brilliant but BLACK.

Television:

I still like the evening news. The Chaser's War on Everything. Good TV dramas that suck you in for a season. Documentaries about things I hadn't thought about until I saw it on the screen.

Books:

Don deLillo's The Falling Man, The Time Travellers Wife, currently reading Iain Bank's latest two books. Just finished latest Murakami novel, having lived in Tokyo I loved it. I read a lot online for work and play - blogs, news, more news, commentary, black humour and satire, magazines and online publications.

Heroes:

Nelson Mandela is a towering figure. My parents are still happily married after 54 years. Most of the Mitford sisters.
