About Me

Low Frequency Abduction is the latest incarnation of Richard Oaten's musical evolution.
Born in September 1972, Rich quickly became interested in electronic music (aged 6), when he got hold of his first keyboard. Upon seeing Gary Numan on the BBC's seminal live music show "Whistle Test" in 1979, he found a path that would lead him through his school years, owning his first synthesizer (aged 14) and becoming involed in many different projects and school bands. Influenced by a mixture of synthpop and hip-hop/r'n'b, he strived to mix elements of these styles together to create something new.
After many years of musical exploration 1998 would became a turning point, when many years of hard work would start to pay off as he secured his first record deal with UK wing of American dance label, Aromi (now part of SONY Music) under the name of "Truth". His first club release (a 4 track EP) charted at No.29 (beating many established acts new releases that week, including Sash! and Faithless in DJ magazines official UK dance chart). He later became interested in remixing, gaining a 3 week stay at the top of the US internet download music chart with his mix of Madonna's "Ray Of Light" in 2001. After taking a break from the recording world in 2003 to travel to South America, he's now back and happy to report that work is well underway on a new joint venture, which is looking to be the most exciting yet. Details are being kept secret at this stage (don't want to give too much away) and a major equipment revamp has also just taken place, with some amazing new addittions. Keep returning to this page for more updates.
As well as being involved in the music industry as a recording artist, producer and remixer, Rich also beta tests software instruments and applications for companies including: G-Media/G-Force (hello Dave!), Spectrasonics, fxpansion, Ableton, Propellerheads and now Arturia! As well as working on new tracks, he's also been involved with those splendid chaps (especially Mr. Braidy!) at the Museum of Techno...can you feel the bass???
