MAGENTA: THE DARK ANGEL OF CHOCOLATE

About Me

Writer, photographer, graphic artist, and eater of chocolate
I had your basic, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly sort of childhood. My mother died when I was 12 so there was only my father left to torture with my creative energies. I made my directorial debut, gathering the neighborhood children together for rehearsals. Once satisfied with our efforts we would then put on performances for all the parents to endure.
I have a ridiculously fierce passion for chocolate. Not just any chocolate though. The deep, dark silky kind that when placed upon the tongue causes one to transcend this world and enter into realms where all cares, responsibilities and concepts of the word "share" fall away.
I feel likewise for colour. My eyes partake it as fine incense. I suppose this combined with my natural propensity for art led me to take another love, photography, to the next natural level of graphic design.
I studied photography at (the now defunct) David Thompson University, taught it at a medium security prison and worked as a freelance photographer for newspapers, magazines and most dreaded of all, wedding photographer (insert scream here ________)
My other huge passion is writing. Sure, my spelling is atrocious. My grasp of puncutation... sighs, well, the less said about that the better, and don't even get me started on my overzealous use of commas. I mean really! What does any of that have to do with anything when you get right down to it? Can't someone else deal with all these messy little details while I slip away and tuck a morsel of something sinfully dark and gratifying into my mouth?sighs...
Anyway. I am presently working towards a couple of things. I have just finished writing a 59,000 word, young adult fiction novel and am in the process of finding a publisher. See above for more info (on my blog), The Shadow Mirror.
Secondly I am working towards my first solo art show this summer creating a series of Pagan Thangkas, using as inspiration the elemental beings. I usually begin by taking photographs of various models, fiddling and tinkering with the results in photoshop until I'm happy with the results. The final step involves piecing together and sewing large panels for mounting these images on. The finished fabric wall art pieces are about 2 by 3 feet.
