The Sgeurvreters

About Me

The Sgeurvreters started in '93 inspired by black Rock & Roll trash and R & B from the fifties, R & B based sixties punk, Cajun and swamp blues from Goldband, Excello and Flyright and real Northern Soul stompers. The quartet from Amsterdam/ Haarlem tries to call up the primitive power and energy of those wild black roots and make their own version of hot R & B. Their own version, since The Sgeurvreters have respect for ' the orginals ' and they don't wanna copy the great roots music they like. In 1994 the first single came out on Jacaranda records, featuring covers from Rocking Sydney's 'Morning Coffee' and Albert Washingtons 'Ramble'. The single got good reviews in Maximum R & R, Pitt's Bull and Prime Time. The second 4-track single was released wrapped in a great Peter Pontiac sleeve in July '96 on the new Amsterdam based label Bask records, with songs like 'Mojo work out' and Blowing with Mr. Groove. After a period of silence they started to play in 2006 on a regular base again. They have plans to make a new record in 2007.(All artwork by Peter Pontiac ©)
