Totally Lost Control was conceived in mid 2006 by Chris Hughes and Dave Irvine. As 2 bored musicians and inspired by JenSing, they sought a way to play their music while raising a few sheckles for charity. So thats exactly what they did.
1st thing was the charity, something close to everyones heart.... Children....
As a big rugby fan, Chris was aware of a childrens cancer charity - The Toby Lloyd Cockbain Foundation - http://www.tlcfoundation.org.uk/
Founded by Kate and her husband, Wales international rugby player, Brent Cockbain, TLC was to commemorate the loss of their young son Toby. Poor Toby died of a rare brain cancer just after his 1st birthday.
Today, the foundation raises money for very expensive equipment to help in the care of children with cancer, as well as helping the families of sufferers by offering respite care.
Next on the agenda was bands to perform and a venue. The New Park Liberal Club kindly donated the used of it's function room and bands, such as Order of Chaos, The Shieladealers(now The Hustlers), Ghandi's Monkey, Games For May, mAbAtAd and of course Chris and Dave (My Favorite Itch) kindly donated their time for the event. At 7.30pm On September 22nd 2006, Totally Lost Control kicked of for the 1st time with My Favorite Itch having the honor.
We were blessed with success and thanks to all those who took part, we manged to raise £380 for a very worth while cause.
"Why not do it again?" says Chris
"Why not indeed!", says Dave.........
Que TLC II - 26th August 2007.
With more time to prepare, Dave was able to obtain a larger venue for a longer time period. The Plan - A band an hour for a 12 hour marathon of music.
With the help of Brazz@The Wales Millenium Centre and now friends, The Shieladealers(now The Hustlers), Order of Chaos and mAbAtAd and new bands, The Hyde, Deekonbrittch, Blackfly, Diem, Jam with Robina and Jack The Biscuit, we did it! This time raising over £840, over double from the previous year!
2008 brings a little change...
Chris is off on a journey of self discovery in Australia, leaving Dave to organise TLC III - Dave's free reign!
WATCH THIS SPACE FOLKS!!!
Chris and Dave would like to take this opportunity to thank you all so much for your support so far and ask that you continue to support us in anyway you can.
We are currently trying to secure a venue for the end of summer sometime, if anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to get in touch.
JenSing 7.5 was a great success, we raised over £1100. Thanks to all who supported the cause, a good times was had by all!
