Image07 is a nationwide photo contest run by the New York chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers and open to all professional and student photographers residing in the United States. Submit one or more of your favorite images that were created after January 1, 2006. The deadline for entry submissions is May 5, 2007.
How to Enter
Entries will be accepted over the internet this year. To submit images, please go to CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT IMAGES Images must be in JPEG format, at 72 dpi. Images should not be bigger than 800 at their widest length. All other sizes will be scaled by the server. There are two categories, Professional and Student. Each has a first, second and third place prize awarded. This contest is also open to, and welcomes, amateur photographers !!!!
First Prize
Winners from the Professional and Student categories will each receive a A Tekserve store certificate in the amount of $1500, one Nurizon - Acolens distortion software package, one Full Spectrum 5.0 business management software package, Nancy Scans Exhibition quality prints ( value. $750 ) ( total prize value each winner is approx. $3800. )
Winners will also be published together in a one page promotion in Photo District News (excellent exposure) and will have their image printed on a promotional mailer that will be sent to 2000 Art Directors, Art Buyers and Photo Editors in New York City and throughout the US. Winning images will also be part of the image07 exhibit in a New York City art gallery.
Second Prizes
Second place winners in the Professional category will receive a Drive Digital one day van rental package – includes van / digital tech / cameras / assistant. ( value $3500 )
Second place winners in the Student category will receive Drive Digital one day Studio package - includes digital tech / cameras / assistant. ( value $2500 )
Each winner will also receive a Nurizon - Acolens distortion software package and have their image printed on a promotional mailer that will be sent to 2000 Art Directors, Art Buyers and Photo Editors in New York and throughout the United States. Their winning images will also be part of the image07 photo exhibit in a New York City art gallery.
Third Place
Each winner from the Professional and Student categories will receive a Digital Railroad 1 Full year membership, an Nurizon - Acolens distortion software package. ( total value each winner is $1200 )
Honorable and Judges Choice awards
Prizes distributed to the winners of the Honorable and Judges Choice categories will include two, Tamron AF 70-300 f/4-5.6 lenses , two software packages from Nurizon – Acolens , Two Digital Railroad 9 month memberships, two 9 month Digital Railroad memberships, Fujifilm cameras : S9100, S600fd, and S5200, a $250 store credit with Fotocare, NYC , 2 - $150 in FUJI related products from Fotocare ($300 total), and 3 - 1 gig xD memory cards.

Void outside of the 50 United States and D.C., and wherever prohibited or restricted by law.
How to Enter: To enter, submit one or more original Images created after January 01, 2006, in the form of a 72dpi digital file no larger than 800 pixels in in longest dimension, via web. All entries must be received by May 5, 2007. All submitted Images must be the fully original creations of the entrants, must be the sole work of the entrants and all persons, places and/or objects appearing within all submitted Images must have been fully and properly released. Photographer must have the right to reproduce any image that has been previously published. By entering, all entrants agree to grant the Sponsor the right to use their Images on Sponsor's web site(s) and in any publicity or promotions for future Sponsor photo competitions. All entrants waive any claims against Sponsor, and its affiliates concerning their respective rights in the Images submitted in this Contest. Incomplete entries or entries not satisfying these Official Rules will be automatically disqualified.
Eligibility: Promotion open to legal residents of United States only that are part time or full time students or professional photographers. Members of the ASMPNY Steering Committee are not eligible. Void outside the 50 United States and D.C., and where prohibited by law.
Judging Criteria: All Images and entry materials submitted by students ("Student Entries") will be judged against other Student Entries ("Student Category") and all Images and entry materials submitted by professionals ("Professional Entries") will be judged against other Professional Entries ("Professional Category"). All eligible entries received in the Student Category and the Professional Category will be judged by a 5-member independent judging panel composed of one or more photo editor(s), gallery owner(s), art director(s) and art buyer(s) from the New York metropolitan area. In the event that a judge cannot fulfill their duties, the judge will be replaced with a person to be decided at the sole discretion of the ASMPNY Steering Committee. All judging will be conducted in a "blind" fashion (no names will be displayed on the photographs while they are being judged). Judging of the entries will begin on or about May 21, 2007, with final decisions to be made on or about June 1, 2007. The decisions of the judges shall be final and binding in all respects. By participating, all entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules. All of the eligible entries will be judged on the concept, creativity and technical execution. One (1) First Place, Second Place and Third Place entry and five (5) Honorable Mention entries will be awarded in the Student Category and one (1) First Place, Second Place and Third Place entry and five (5) Honorable Mention entries will be awarded in the Professional Category. Each of the five judges will also choose a Judge's Choice winner, from all Student Category and Professional Category entries combined. Sponsor reserves the right to refuse any entries that it deems, in its sole discretion, to be inappropriate for any reason. All submitted Images must be the fully original creations of the entrants, must be the sole work of the entrants and all persons, places and/or objects appearing within all submitted Images must have been fully and properly released.
Prizes: Two (2) First Place prizes (one from the Student Category and one from the Professional Category) consisting of a half-page publication of the winning Image in the Photo District News (layout to be designed by Sponsor, in its sole discretion); publication of the winning Image in a promotional mailer to be sent to 2000 art directors, art buyers and photo editors in New York and other major cities throughout the U.S. (the "Promotional Mailer"); an exhibition of the winning Image in a New York gallery (choice of gallery and time period of exhibition to be in the sole discretion of the Sponsor); one Fuji S-3 camera body.
Two (2) Second Prizes (one from the Student Category and one from the Professional Category) consisting of publication of the winning Image in the Promotional Mailer; a exhibition of the winning Image in a New York gallery, in the sole discretion of the Sponsor (choice of gallery and time period of exhibition to be in the sole discretion of the Sponsor). Two (2) Third Prizes (one from the Student Category and one from the Professional Category) consisting of publication of the winning Image in the Promotional Mailer; a exhibition of the winning Image in a New York gallery (choice of gallery and time period of exhibition to be in the sole discretion of the Sponsor). Ten (10) Honorable Mention Prizes (five from the Student Category and five from the Professional Category) consisting of an exhibition of the winning Image in a New York gallery (choice of gallery and time period of exhibition to be in the sole discretion of the Sponsor). Five Judges Choice Prizes consisting of an exhibition of the winning Image in a New York gallery (choice of gallery and time period of exhibition to be in the sole discretion of the Sponsor). No cash redemptions. Prizes are non-transferable and no substitutions will be allowed, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal value if prize is unavailable. Winners will be notified by mail and/or telephone on or about June 15th, 2006.
Winning Images: All potential winners will be required to submit a print of their winning Image ("Final Print"), at the potential winner's sole expense, within 14 days of receipt of winning notification. All Final Prints must match the transparency or the digital file of the submitted winning Image and must be of professional quality. All Final Prints must be 16" x 20" or smaller. If any Final Prints do not match the transparency submitted, are not of professional quality, are not submitted within the stated time period or are not the proper size, winner will forfeit his/her prize, and an alternate winner will be chosen from all remaining eligible entries. Sponsor will frame and mat each Final Print. The choice of frame and mat will be at Sponsor's sole discretion. Any Final Print that is printed 16" x 20" will be framed without a mat. All Final Prints must be picked up in New York no later than ten days after the close of the gallery exhibition, or arrangements must be made for their return to the respective entrants, at the entrant's sole expense within ten days of the close of the gallery exhibition or the Final Print will be forfeited.
General: By entering, each entrant warrants and represents that: (1) His/her submitted Image(s) are his/her fully original creations: (2) His/her submitted Image(s) are the sole work of the entrant: (3) all persons, places and/or objects appearing within all submitted Images have been fully and properly released and (4) entrant has the right to grant permission to reproduce any submitted Images that have been previously published. Entrants shall be responsible for all entry-related costs. All winners will be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release within seven (7) days of receipt. Return of any prize notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate winner will be selected. Affidavit must be signed and return within the stated time period or prize may be forfeited. By accepting the prize, winners agree to the use of their respective name, likeness, biographical information, Image and/or Final Print, in whole or part, in combination with any other materials, in any media now known or hereafter developed, in perpetuity, for purposes of advertising, trade, or promotion of ASMP, ASMPNY, or future ASMPNY photo competitions without further compensation, unless prohibited by law. By entering and/or accepting a prize, all entrants agree to release and indemnify American Society of Media Photographers, Inc., ASMPNY, and their respective Steering Committee members, directors, employees, volunteers, representatives and assigns, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, agencies, divisions, and affiliates (the "Released Parties") from and for any and all liability, for loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense whatsoever including without limitation, property damage, personal injury and/or death which may occur in connection with, preparation for, travel to, or participation in Contest, or possession, acceptance and/or use or misuse of prize or participation in any Contest-related activity and claims based on publicity rights, copyright/trademark infringement, moral right, defamation or invasion of privacy (including but not limited to any claims from any persons depicted within any submitted Images or any claims from representatives of any places or objects depicted within the submitted Images) and merchandise return or delivery. By entering, all entrants waive any claims against the Released Parties concerning entrants' rights in their submitted Images and/or Final Prints. The Released Parties shall not be responsible for any damages, taxes, or expenses that winners might incur as a result of this Contest or receipt of prize. All taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the winners. The Released Parties shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to any submitted Image or Final Print.
