Born and raised in Zaandam, The Netherlands. Christel studies music, with a major in singing, at the Conservatory of Alkmaar. After a postgraduate study at the Conservatory in Arnhem, she moves to Scotland to live in Edinburgh for a year. She enjoys connecting with other musicians in the city and performs around town. The Fringe has been an amazing time for her. Back in The Netherlands now, Christel is writing new material. Her songs are about her journey in search of love, security and her own identity.
She made the semi-final of the prestigious Dutch Jazz Vocalist Concours 2005.
An exciting collaboration with Jazz beat producer and DJ Phil Martin (Jazz Invaders) has provided refreshing new recordings – a blend of acoustic jazz, groovy sampled beats and warm vocals – and will be released soon on Social Beats. Christel has been part of the 'Nederlands Studenten Kamer Koor 2008', a fun choir project with contemporary classical repertory. The tour has been very successful.
