Sincerity. Making art, looking at art, talking about art, photography, music, travel by airship, tall and awkward, playing outside in thunderstorms, sailing, reading slightly out-of-date magazines, and the falability of physical laws. I dislike most surrealist art immensely. I do like artists like Lucian Freud, John Currin, Jenny Saville, Lisa Yuskavage, Dan Flavin, Gerhard Richter, Luc Tuymens, Takashi Murakami, Raymond Uhlir, Sterling Allen, Jonathan Marshall, Myranda Bair, Ryan Hennesey, Jason Singleton, and a few others. I also like to travel...a lot. The dots, beeps, boops, 1's and 0's that seem to connect us all. What I'm really fundamentally interested in is learning as much as I possibly can about everything I possibly can. Talk with me about something, don't just make noise at me. I'd like to meet:
People who have it together and aren't total emotional or mental train wrecks. And future potential subjects for photographs and paintings. Looky-loos, scenesters, phonies, and poseurs need not apply. Just the real deal, participants. Style while doing so is a plus but not necessary. I like to meet people who make things and like to talk about what they make. I don't truck people who say they are artists but don't make art, say they are musicians and don't make music, or say they will do great things and instead deride those that do. Ambition is not pretension. Confidence should not be mistaken for arrogance except by those who view life through jealous lenses. Envy is an excuse not to take responsibility for your own life.
