About Me

I SURVIVED MY FRESHMAN YEAR AT COLLEGE!!! Apartment living...here I come.Random tidbits I don't have time to edit or revise:I used to say that I liked poetry because I thought it would make me look like an intellectual...one of those people you could see going to poetry readings and drinking in the art with sagacious nods of the head over in a dim corner, smiling knowingly, enjoying a completely personal universe and lording it over all the other cerebrally-deficit that I actually knew and truly appreciated what was just words to them...ok, so I clearly wasn't that, but I wanted to maybe create the impression of some grand artistic capacity while actually knowing nothing about it at all. How vain! I never even knew what poetry was until this last month. It is at the heart of every natural and spiritual phenomenon. It is the music of sound, the texture of meaning, the spontaneous and exhilirating explosions of images and connections going off in your mind, the weaving of the known with the hidden and beautiful. Poetry doesn't raise someone above everyone else by the ability to understand it...it completes that person, just that person, regardless of anyone else, mind, spirit, heart, by her (or his) ability to resonate to it. And I realize now how very hopeless I am. And I love it.
I think Aristophanes was onto something with his Children of the Sun/Earth/Moon theory of love: everyone was a big, round, two-faced, four-legged, four-armed creature until they got too proud for the gods to manage, so Zeus split them down the middle, creating the two-legged, two-armed, single-faced people of today who are sentenced to wander the earth searching for their lost other half of themselves. If I may, if it's not philosophical heresy to do so, I want to graft in a bit of Western astrology with that idea...being a Sagittarius, the typical representation of which is the centaur, I believe that there must have been centaurs, too, who were pulled apart, creating the human and the horse. That explains why there are just some natural horse people and some people who never really grasp the idea or the reality of the horse. It would also explain my emptiness at present. On the back of my horse, not just any horse, but my horse, I settle into the rhythm of existence, we soar together. Maybe that's why I feel lonely and unfulfilled after having left her again. I certainly feel much more joy, completion, security, and unbounded possibility around her than around any guy thus far (sorry, Aristophanes...but there's always hope). We've grown into each other's rhythms for nearly a decade. I miss her.
The rest is from my previous version of my profile:
But the whole zodiac thing also allegedly contributes to my being contagiously enthusiastic and fun. Loyal, noble-hearted, boosting the underdog, stubborn, opinionated...but all of that's hidden, supposedly, by my "rising sign" of Scorpio...that means the "mask" I wear until people get to know me. For strangers, I'm quiet, intensely shy, and overall intense. No idle chitchat about the weather. I drift away from shallow superficialities. I guess I'm a polarizing sort of personality...I read it somewhere, "you either can't stand them or can't live without them." I tend to be friends with intelligent people. Sometimes those people are even genuine, it's amazing. And those people that can't stand me...it's usually a mutual repulsion action.
One thing that's fun to do is to go out of your way to smile at everyone you make eye contact with one day. It's incredible. Without fail, nearly every single person has smiled back at me. And they look so happy when you do that. It's incredibly unexpected in our society, I guess.
My dream is to go to England. I love English people. My dad brought me back a plague rat hand puppet from The Globe Theatre giftshop. Odd present for an 18 year old girl? Nope. I love him. I named him Sir Andrew Aguecheek and he has gone on every plane ride with me since I got him. :p
Yes, that's right, I refuse to become a boring, stuffy, pretentious adult.

Your Most Overused Phrase On an instant messenger: Hehe.

Your Best Physical Feature: I like my eyes. Green with long eyelashes. But, let me tell you, with my work-out routine, I'm turning into something of a rock.
Your Bedtime: Around midnight. Much better this semester than last.
Your Most Missed Memory: Wouldn't it only be missed if I no longer had it? Maybe they mean a memory of something I miss the most. That would have to be when I was young and things were simpler and I would spend hours on end playing in my room with my model horses.

Do you Shower Daily: Sometimes several times daily.

What country would you most like to Visit: ENGLAND.
In a Boy/Girl..
Favourite Eye Color: Anything that possesses intelligence, humor, and a wide range of expression.
Favourite Hair Color: Anything real.
Short or Long Hair: Short. Not so short that there's just a fuzzy covering over the head, the hair should have some shape to it, but the whole long hair trend is messy and gross looking.
Height: It all depends on the guy. I used to say that tall guys scare me, but I've rethought that since I have good guy friends over 6 feet. I don't notice that they're tall until I see pictures. So, if I notice a guy is tall, that's a bad thing and he scares me. Hmm. If I notice a guy is strangely short, that's probably bad, too, because that probably weirds me out. So, any height, as long as the guy isn't creepy.
Weight: Not obese.

Number of CDs I own: I don't know. But I have about 40 days of music on iTunes.
