The Reverend Bruce Band

IF IT'S TOO LOUD, YOU'RE TOO OLD!

About Me

The Reverend Bruce Band was formerly called Big Bruce and The Warriors and later went by The FunTime Aliens so if those names ring a bell you know who we're talking about.
Reverend Bruce lives on a small ranch in rural Alberta with many dogs, cats and horses. Being in the wilds of Western Canada allows the band to rehearse together without worrying about disturbing the neighbours. The band in many configurations has been going since 1986 when Reverend Bruce was working with Youth With A Mission's Academy Of Performing Arts in Cambridge Ontario Canada. For the past several years they have been a part of Team Rexon Ministries located in Drayton Valley Alberta Canada.

"REXON"

is a Greek word that loosely means,
" I feel so good inside that it must explode in an excited outward expression to those around me! "
They have toured extensively in Canada, the States, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Russia, Holland and in their back field.
They started out doing 80's Hair Metal and have mellowed with age to a more bluesy sound but with a definite edge.
When not enjoying their country lifestyle from their horses and ATV's they like to ride their Harleys and in Eastern Canada Rob and Val Reimer keep their race car roaring around the track.
A few years ago Reverend Bruce got very sick... even died for a while... and ended up quite handicapped (thank the Lord his hands and voice were not messed up so he has continued to sing and play). But with God's help and inspired determination he has battled back and now with the purchase of a motorized wheelchair he is able to do more gigs than his health has been limiting him to do. Can you rock from a wheelchair??? Check it out! Sure can!!
So keep your eyes peeled for the next Aliens show in your area!

THE EXPLOSION RALLY
Knowing the importance of real follow-up, we try to link with a local group or church to put on an Explosion Rally that is truly designed for the kids we want to reach. A combination of music, comedy, drama and straight talk is put together to make an event that has seen real results wherever the team has gone.
ADVENTURES IN ACTION
Teenagers and adults can join us as we go out in teams to use music and drama to do front line evangelism here in Western Canada and in other parts of the world. Christianity is exciting! and dedicated Christ-like attitudes on a Power Tour are much more important than being a " big talent ".
NATIVE RECONCILIATION Working with native youth in rallies and camps, bringing together different aboriginal cultures from around the world, and teaching understanding, all demonstrate that we serve a God for every person and tribe. REXON staff and members see Native Ministry as a vital part of our calling and purpose.
It's not in becoming "white" that indigenous people become part of the family of God. They do not have to abandon their culture or heritage. Rather it's in having a living experience with Jesus Christ and realizing that to follow Him is to worship Him and that must be done in Spirit and in Truth.
For many years we have been involved in a camp program for our Native Canadian kids that lets them get away for a week of fun and Christian teaching at no charge to any of them. Many lives have been changed and many have found hope in a world that offers so little but oppression and bigotry.
We can make a difference!
TEAM REXON MOTOR SPORTS CLUB
Since the fall of 2007 TEAM REXON MOTOR SPORTS has been centred in St. Agatha, Ontario, Canada. Whether it be at public auto racing events with our car

" The Rexon Detonator " or fixing and riding their ATV's, quads, go carts and dirt bikes, Team Rexon members are challenged to use Power, Presence of Mind and Purity to be witnesses in high speed motion. We view "Pit Rats", the kids of the racers and the fans, as an unreached people group.

As Rob and Bruce show here, Team Rexon also enjoys getting out on the highway on their motorcycles. They don't insist that everyone they ride with are on Harleys, but it helps. God is no respecter of persons and Rexon is no respecter of makes of bikes.
The REXON programs are usually Arts centered, with the exception of our MotorSports Club, and alway are designed to give young people that explosive feeling, and to release them to make an impact on the world they live in! Stay tuned to this location for more exciting developments!
AS THEY HAPPEN!
Keep checking back for news and updates! Hey!
We're going to include a blurb about our ministry
and our vision, in case there's anything you don't already know.
Don't mind the formal bla bla bla.
We try to stay relaxed but sometimes good communication demands Proper English!!!

Influences: Influences???
To list this out would be like doing a history of Secular and Christian Rock 'n' Roll and the Blues along with some jazz all rolled into one. Lotsa guitar and long solos (sometimes bordering on self indulgent) with a B3 and Leslie sound on the keys surround anthem like vocals with good harmonies.

Reverend Bruce's personal guitar influences run the gamit: Lloyd Johnson (Johnny Guitar), Walt Strohmaier, Duane Eddy, Chuck Berry (too bad he didn't work on getting better), George Harrison, Eric Clapton, The Ventures, Chet Atkins, Mark Knofler, Jimmy Page, Richie Blackmore, Hendrix, Steve Vai, SRV, Dom Triano, BB King, Johnnie Lange, Brian Gagnon, Steve Hill, Slash, Ken Tamplin, Alvin Lee, Glenn Kaiser, Keith Sproll, Phil Keaggy, Elvin Bishop, Mike Bloomfield, Randy Bachman, Mark Wing, Jeff Healey, Eric Johnson, Satriani and the list goes on ad infinatim.
Yes... That list goes way way back!
