I’m Anthony Stuart and it would be a privilege to serve as your next ASUA Student Body President. I am a second-generation University of Arizona student and I’ve lived the “Bear Down†ethic my whole life - I bleed Red and Blue. Born and raised in the desert, I can take the heat of being President of our student body. I love the Southwest and with family living here for more than twenty years, Tucson has always been a home.
I’m a Junior majoring in Spanish and Portuguese, with a thematic minor in International Relations, Italian, and Chinese and I’m looking forward to the challenge of translating your ideas into results for a better UA.
As a close observer of ASUA since my freshman year, I’ve spent three years building personal, extra-curricular, and professional experience that make me the most suited individual to represent our diverse student body. I’ve been involved in leadership roles in numerous communities on-and-off campus and strongly believe that involvement is what makes college the best years of our lives.
As your ASUA Student Body President, I’ll advocate for all students at UA and will uphold the four cornerstones of ethics, diversity, service, and initiative - and make us proud to be Wildcats!
• NO MORE FEES; NO MORE DIFFERENTIAL TUITION. Now more than ever, financial responsibility and creativity are the solution to the university’s need for more funding. We will be working with the administration, athletics, and student groups to create a yearly concert event at Arizona Stadium to get rid of student fees and differential tuition, FOREVER.
• LONG-TERM VISION TO ENSURE OUR LEGACY. We must plan ahead with the administration, laying the foundation for the university’s future, both immediate and enduring. We’re going to work with the Tucson school districts to develop stronger “Careers†programs to encourage minority enrollment on campus and to once again create the great relationship between the University of Arizona and our hometown.
• DIVERSE AND OPEN STUDENT GOVERNMENT. ASUA, the student’s house, must be a place where everyone can come together. I will advocate on behalf of all student groups and interests, no matter how large or small, and guarantee an open door of communication. I will make ASUA the open and accepting place it needs to be and make access to campus leadership more streamlined than ever before.
