DAS ROTE UNIVERSUM plays weltraum music.
For DAS ROTE UNIVERSUM there are no barriers in the rock'n'roll cosmos: the transitions from punk metal over epic art rock to wild improvisations are fluent. Overlong tracks with pop appeal stand side by side to ranting insults of the audience.
The three-part vocals are english and german. The performances are full of enthusiasm and always a little bit different.
In February 2004 DAS ROTE UNIVERSUM rose from the ashes of the unconventional metal band Osh (1992-2004).
When this group seperated from its drummer, the remaining members Birger (guitar), Sönke (bass) and Stephan (vocals & percussions) immediately decided to found a new band and to start into unknown sound galaxies with fresh song material and Stephan now behind the drums.
The name DAS ROTE UNIVERSUM (="the red universe") was quickly found, inspired by the last Osh-cd "Red Universe" (2002). And after less than two months the first gig in Hamburg was celebrated. More club and festival shows - most of them in Northern Germany - followed.
During the years 2004 and 2005 some of those concerts were recorded in bootleg quality and sold for a very low price.
In October 2006 DAS ROTE UNIVERSUM started to record the self-produced debut KILLER, which contains over 70 minutes of weltraum music, including the Beatles cover "I Want You (She's So Heavy)".
KILLER is NOW AVAILABLE and can be ordered for only 8,-€ (+ 2,-€ shipping inside Germany; other countries please ask) directly from us. Just send us a message! :)
