About Me

The University of Sunderland parachute club quenches the thurst of adrenaline addicts!
If you are curious, enthusiastic or just fancy a go join up at Wearmouth hall. The club is run by Philippa Shield and Myspace editor Wendy Holyoak.
The parachute club travels down to Peterlee to train and jump, usually on weekends. Cost you ask?If you were a general member of the public the cost of the training would cost £215, but the student price is only £125!!!! It may seem a lot to some, but it is worth it! The training includes:
First full training,
3rd party insurance,
BCPA Membership,
Kit Hire,
and your our first Jump!
The training is around 6 hours, so you could do all your training and jump all in one day, depending on weather and if you're ready to!
After you have completed you training each jump is £25, this is also a student discounted price!!!
As a parachute student you will start off with static line jumps. An explanation of this is that a static line is a cord connecting the deployment bag of the parachute to the aircraft from which the parachutist jumps. After falling away from the aircraft, this short line (rarely more than a few meters) then pulls the parachute deployment bag from its container. After that, the parachute deploys. The static line separates from the parachute, and remains in tow behind the aircraft.
The more you jump the more you will progress and maybe one day you’ll be pulling the cord yourself!
Go on, i dare you!
