Too Old to be here

About Me

Too Old to be here.I've also just realised, not that it took a while for the penny to drop or anything, that there is no section in here for what you hate.I HATE BAD GRAMMAR, AND SPELLING, AND I ALSO HATE THE USE OF AMERICAN ENGLISH WHEN THERE IS NO EXCUSE (ie UNLESS YOU ARE AMERICAN). PLEASE NEVER SAY "REGULAR" WHEN YOU MEAN "ORDINARY", AND DON'T SPLIT INFINITIVES. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "CHECKOUT" IN ENGLAND. IT IS A TILL. AN "IN-STORE-JANITOR" IS A CLEANER. "FOR FREE" IS AN UTTER SOLECISM. YOU MEAN "FREE". "OFF OF" IS JUST AS BAD. YOU MEAN "OFF".Rant over.

My Interests

Alcohol, fast old cars, re-arranging folk song, revolution.

I'd like to meet:

Christine Keeler

Music:

Yeah, play some. Was there in the 60s (I think)

Movies:

Not a lot. Like the shot of the Jimmy and the whistle it makes as the belt takes up in Mad Max 1.

Television:

Even less. CSI OK - that Marg Helgenberger has a nice combination of vulnerability and sass.

Books:

Read the Rings trilogy in 8 hours straight. Never could get into Gormenghast

Heroes:

Leg over Lenny's a pretty good lawyer. Graham Hill was a pretty good driver.

My Blog

I’ve been quiet!

Hmm, where to start - had fight in pub a fortnight ago, came second, but it didn't hurt and the black eye has gone down.   Owing to a pot of margarine I ahve left the morris side so the mandoplan...

Tenterden Festival

Ground was dry, weather was smashing on Saturday, beer in the Woolpack was magnificent, lots of jovial morris-persons. The 8 Bells is sorely missed, but all those trying at the Vine were valiant, and ...

RIP Bonnie (survived by Ben and by Schitz the cat)

Last trip to the vet for Bonnie yesterday and I'm being a bit soppy about it.  Ben the border collie-cross seems a bit quiet too, and has not yet stolen her sofa.  Schitz seems quite unmoved...

Knockholt Autumn leaves

What a splendid chill-out weekend. Field, Fire, Friends, Frigid water, Fart-huts, and of course the Fabric retreat in case of rain which happily stayed away. But the Farmer had apparently read the Mudc...

Faversham Hop Fest

There were mixed sessions in the Crown and Onanist on the Friday and Saturday evenings. On the Friday I was there but then went for a long, long walk to get away. On the Saturday I went for a short wa...

More Mando stuff (not Mandies, or Mandy’s)

Well the Frozen Chew gig was CRAP.  Der Fuhrer told me he was gong to play an acoustic guitar - so I took the acoustic mando in stead, and had huge trouble getting enough input gain into his mixe...

More on the mando

Well, I finally put that first bumsucker in this morning, and I have to say I think the result is not bad. I've got the bumsucker in bridge, and one of the single-poles in neck and until I can insert ...
