The Rat in the Hat

My hubby and I took our preschoolers to see Ratatouille yesterday. I thought it might be a hard sell for the little ones- I mean, when I saw the trailer, it seemed a lot like an animated G-rated Sidew...

With a Little Help From Her Friends

Like many 5 year olds, The Bug has a pack of "invisible friends." She shares food with them and helps them up the stairs. They usually don't interfere with the rest of the inhabitants of our household...

Like a Doggie in a Dress

Today was The Bug's preschool graduation. The shadeless lawn had unions of white folding chairs, aligned to the flower-adorned ceremonial arch the kids were to pass through. Five minutes after finding...

Derby Crash

I took my little girls to a pretty kick ass sporting event- all-girl roller derby. Right away, they were into it because we all got little red star stamps on our hand. First on the agenda was to score...

House on Haunted Squirrel Hill

A few years back, we bought a quaint colonial house in the same town that Longfellow immortalized the Wayside Inn. It was situated in the historical district and it was dated from the late 1700s. I th...
