Music, music history, musicians, music production, drums, drumming, drummers and everything else related to the craft more or less sums me up! I'm also really interested in people and human behaviour. I havent always necessarily dug people and still find that there are alot of really shit ones around, but the good ones more than make up for it! So yeah, i dig people! I also really like fitness related stuff. I've studied a bit, but more than anything i find most people who are into it usually have an awesome vibe about them, and i'm very interested in awesome vibes! I love my sport too, particularly Aussie Rules and specifically my beloved Shinboners! Dig my cricket and soccer too.
I'd like to meet:
People who are passionate about what they do and what they are into. I love people who like a chat, a laugh and who arent afraid to go a bit deeper than small talk. I can seriously talk so be warned that if we click, things could get heavy! It would help if you really dig music too. It doesn't necessarily have to be what i'm into either, just dig something!
Music:
Easily the most vital thing in my life. It has a massive say in determining my mood or vibe and is my biggest passion. I'll give time to anything as long as its sincere and/or well done for what it is, but i do have a particular predilection for music involving great musicianship. I'm always trying to catch up on and make up for my complete lack of education and consumption from my earlier, more simple minded years. It never ends....Of course i have certain bands and artists that i know i'll still be listening to in 10 years whenever i need inspiration or ear candy....Some of those include Soundgarden, Dave Matthews Band, The Police, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Muse, Living Colour, Cog, anything involving Neil Finn, Massive Attack, Me'Shell Ndegeocello, Midnight Oil, Tool, Refused, Helmet, Shihad, Alice in Chains, Paz Lenchantin, Sepultura, Pearl Jam, KISS, Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys and just far too many more to keep this from becoming stupidly long.
Movies:
Not really much of a film buff admittedly. I think its a combination of not being able to sit down for more than a few minutes at a time and a (lack of) concentration span thing!! :) But as a kid i was obsessed with the whole Star Wars thing and would probably list The Empire Strikes Back as a movie i can watch repeatedly and still enjoy.Mad Max 1 & 2 were also firm favorites back in the day, and i do dig a good shoot em up like Pulp Fiction, Lock Stock & Two Smokin Barrels etc too.Cheesy horror flicks are good too as well as genuine suspense type of flicks. The Excorcist is the one that comes to mind that scared the absolute living bejesus out of me as a kid and can still get me a little bit toey after all these years.
Television:
I cant think of a single TV show that i find essential viewing to the point of never missing. I just dont watch the thing that much to be honest. But anything that can make me think or laugh is a goer.
Books:
I really like biographies, particularly music or sport related. Motley Crue's "The Dirt" is probably my fav just coz its such a killer yarn (and i'm a Crue fan from way back). Also really liked Aerosmith's and KISS's too.
Heroes:
Drumming wise there are just way too many to be able to even try to list them all and i'm always discovering new ones that change my perspective on my instrument or just inspire me to be a better player and a better person. But the ones whose artistry changed my life and who continue to amaze me time and again are Matt Cameron, Carter Beauford, Stewart Copeland, John Bonham and my best bro in this world and the biggest influence on my entire approach and mentality towards the wonderful craft that we share, Steve Curyer. Love ya man!............Glenn Archer is a hero from a different sphere of my life. He is not only a brilliant and courageous footballer for my beloved Kangas, but he is just an absolute ripper bloke who gives an incredible amount to those less fortunate than him and seeks no recognition for it. A truly beautiful man who in my opinion defines what a "hero" is.
