Dead Girls Are Hot!

About Me

Please note- *NEW* I will be rearranging my top friends to reflect those I need to contact and not so much in order of importance in my life. Please don't be offended. Also I add only people I know (or get to know) to my friends list (blog is also mostly friends only)- So if I don't know you- perhaps at some point I will...Accepted the "freak" label in second grade. Use both sides of my brain- which sometimes overheats. I believe the world needs more great storytellers. I love the light and dark and that spongy place between.I love movies, particularly horror, sci fi, fantasy, dark children's stories and such. I do not have any TV channels, but sometimes miss the discovery and cartoon channels, and watch some favs at friends homes (Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, How It's Made, Futurama). I occupy my time working, reading, learning, dancing, listening to music, cuddling with my kitty, cooking, and spending time with friends.I graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in '03 for industrial design/special effects. Been making indie films and halloween stuff for longer than that. I do FX, make-up, hair, wardrobe, acting, graphic design & modeling.I'm native of Boulder, and just moved back to Lafayette from Pittsburgh. Looking for new cool crew to make neat stuff with, or just some other folks to see movies or go to shows with.I have always been morbid & a freak/misfit. I have lived in Autralia and seen much of Asia as well as a few other places- I long to explore, & live to learn.I also have a website www.monstersfrommidian.com but it's content hasn't never been completely updated... I'll get to it at some point. This is the video I helped make (co-directed and co-produced). Everyone I meet has to get to know this wonderful woman named Wanda (miss you darling)...Amazing Short Film- I did not work on this piece, but I did have the pleasure of working with these guys a few days on their new movie, and they are amazing. This short has won over 35 awards and is a must see. So Check it out...

I'd like to meet:

Interesting in meeting other like minded folks. Mostly interested in collaborating with amazing alternative/dark artists out there, I love the energy that happens when a couple (or a bunch) of people click and produce something fantastic. I especially get along with other FX artists very well, we are able to geek out on all the good stuff. Thanks for viewing my profile. If I don't know you, feel free to message me, but please know that I am trying to keep my friends list to those folks I actually know. Thanks!Specific folks I would love to meet (that I haven't already) include, David Cronenberg, David Bowie, Johnny Depp, Rob Bottin, Rick Baker...

Movies:

I love dark children's stories the best. Such as Nightmare Before Xmas, Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and Legend. Big fan of horror, sci fi and fantasy. I also enjoy art and foreign films. I like movies with personality style and substance, that leave me with a lasting impression or have a great impact on me emotionally. Other life altering favs include J.C. I love monsters.

Television:

I haven't watched TV in over five years (unless at someone else's house), there are so many other things I can waste my time with... more productively, with less mind numbing worthless consumerism involved. However, when it is available, or finally comes out on DVD, I LOVE the new Battlestar Galactica, How It's Made, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, Futurama, Ninja Warrior, The Daily Show...

Books:

Are good. I like the same kind of books as movies. Fantasy, sci fi, horror, etc. Yes I am a Potter fan, so fuck you all! I also enjoy Terry Prachet, Douglas Adams, Tolkein, Lewis, Asimov, Philip K Dick, Richard Mathison, Baker (of course), King (like his shorts best),

I am not fond of the hero word, but these people have had a huge positive effect on my life and work; Clive Barker, Danny Elfman, My Parents, David Cronenberg, Dick Smith, Rick Baker, Rob Bottin, Greg Nicotero, Steve Tolin, Wanda, Doug Henderson, Michael T Schneider, Damon & Amber Maranya, Brus Westby...
