Other than my mother and father who made me who I am today and who I cherish more than anyone, my hero has always been Elvis Stojko. I dunno if that means anything to you guys, but he is/was a former canadian figure skating champion. When I was younger, I had The Elvis Wall in my bedroom, and I had all newspaper clips and photos up there, and it was famous in my neighbourhood and amongst my family. He's my "hero", not only because off all he's accomplished, canadian gold medals, world gold medals, olympic medals, but how's he's accomplished them. He worked his TAIL off and never took a thing for granted. He pushed himself through sprained ankles, cracked collarbones, and my proudest moment was of him finishing his long program skate after he literally tore apart his groin muscle about 50-60 seconds before the end of the program. At the end of the program, it was the first time in YEARS that anyone ever saw him show real pain or fear. And he recovered. I was lucky enough to attend his last amateur skate at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, where they paid a beautiful tribute to everything he's done, and it was wonderful. Last year, I was lucky enough to meet him (and kurt browning). It was one of my proudest moments, and Elvis Stojko makes me proud to be canadian. That is why he's my hero. I am done now. lol
