The Shadefoot AKA Siesta AKA Shannon Green is a Brisbane-based musician with a keen interest in developing his production skills. Shannon's main instrument is the bass guitar, but he grew up playing acoustic and electric guitars and drums. After leaving school he developed a strong interest in world music, went on to study Ethnomusicology at the University of Queensland and started playing hand drums and the jew's harp. Shannon has since participated in last two world congresses for the jew's harp in Norway and The Netherlands.On the bass Shannon has played in various bands around Brisbane (Promiscuous, The Serenity, The Marcello Milani Trio, Ruby Blue) and has done many live sessions for other bands (Kafka, Freaky Lou, Jamie X) and open-mic hip hop jams. He has played in most venues that have live music in Brisbane including The Zoo, The Rev, The Alley Bar, Rics, The Judith Wright Centre, The Powerhouse, The Troubadour, The Tongue and Groove, The Arena, The Tivoli etc. Shannon has also toured the east coast of Australia three times taking in Melbourne, Sydney, Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Cairns, and has played at the Woodford Folk Festival, Valley Fiesta, The Big Day Out and Livid.Over the last few years Shannon has developed a very healthy obsession for reggae music, from the sounds of early Jamaican music, through the roots of the 70's, up to modern dancehall and dub. He is currently working on producing riddims with a view to recording vocal cuts and releasing 7 inch singles on his newly formed label "Asif Records". Shannon is also in the process of writing music for a new roots reggae/dub band "Kingfisher" and a solo set of organic/eletronic dub.
