When only a real guitar solo will do

About Me

Classically trained, playing since 17, saw Ritchie Blackmore take command of the stage and do a 5 minute solo and realised that was my destiny, heard Steve Vai and realised music had no boundaries, wanted to craft words music and solos like the mighty Maiden...........music is a tapestry with many colours the chords, the melody, the words intertwined
Why listen to JP?
Imagine that moment, the gig of your life. You travelled all day, got there early, moshed to the support act as the tension built up, more people arrived – they don’t deserve to rock like you do, right at the front but the pressure builds all the same. It is early doors but you are hot, your friends are near but invisible as the lights go down for the last time. Glass underfoot, smoke in the air. Now the crowd want to kick off, you feel the release and then immediate press of a thousand people behind you all wanting to get to the front – its going to get ugly, it is going to rock, then you hear it. So lost in the moment that you missed them arrive, the band starts like there is no tomorrow, because there just may not be – what is the name of this song you hear someone shout …. as Granite Rocks really kicks in … is this really just one man?
Is there a better time to be alive – enjoy it with 4 tracks of guitar majesty. No shortcuts - take the time, listen in full. Listen and enjoy.
The Songs
1. Granite Rocks - Every trick I know in under 2 minutes.
2. Sphinx - Lyrics written by two friends back in the 80's. I read them and thought Maiden Powerslave and wrote this in tribute.
3. New Sun Rising - My first and last political protest song. Inspired by a documentary on the race to develop the bomb and my teenage nightmares. Really fun to write with some 7/8 bars thrown in to keep it interesting.
4. RealiTV- Inspired by Genesis, Jesus he Knows Me. My shot at the crap we have to endure on TV.
Enjoy !
John
