About Me

INITIUM, pronounced Ã-nÃ¯-tee-um, is latin for beginning, start, commencement, origin
The meaning rings true in the bands music. The band draws influences from the roots of heavy metal such as Black Sabbath, Testament, Anthrax, Slayer, and Megadeth, but does so without sounding out-dated or stagnant. Initium delivers fast, heavy, straight forward, no frills metal with absolutely no compromise. The band is comprised of former members of Bloodright, Terra Firma, Crematorium, & Rape your Maker. The band is fronted by demented vocalist Brian "Scary" Oleson, the riffery of guitar duo Chris Hess and Kevin Cook, the thick low-end of Dustin Johnson on bass, and the lightning fast attack of Trynt Kelly on drums.
Initium first reared its ugly head in April of 2004 in Sedalia MO by Chris Hess and Kevin Cook under the name Bloodright. Being that musicians were scarce in Sedalia, the band decided to pack up and move to Lawrence in hopes of finding more musicians willing to play their brand of metal. After many months of searching they finally had all the members. With a full line-up and a new name they were ready start writing new material. A few short months later they recorded their first three song demo which was released in July of 2005. The band is determined to make a dent in the music scene not only locally but nationally. Initium refuses to be ignored, refuses to be just another local band that falls between the cracks, refuses to die.
