About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor

A Hip Hop fan first, Soucida aka Wessida's passion for southern and westcoast hiphop led him to start working as a free-lancer writer-journalist in 2002. He had the chance to collaborate with various publications and websites in France (Da Niouz, R.E.R., Brain, Soul-R'n'B, www.bounce2dis.com, www.187prod.com, www.rapus.net...), then got in touch with some of the biggest publications in Europe. Today, Soucida switched his name to Smooth Operator, his selector name in Smoothshit Radio, the first Westcoast/Downsouth oriented radio show he's running in Paris since 2001. Since 2005, he's mainly working with those magazines on a day to day basis:
Rap U.S. and Groove magazine in France
Juice magazine in Germany
Hip Hop Nation in Spain
Those four magazines are hiphop magazines's leaders in their respective countries.
Here are a few covers :
..
A westcoast and downsouth fan first, Smooth Operator has helped today's hiphop scene major southern actors such as David Banner, T.I., Lil Jon, UGK, Chamillionaire, and Three 6 Mafia getting known in Europe, being the first one in Europe to interview them back then, convincing the magazines to write about them.
And guess what ? Some months later, as each of those became superstars, everybody came asking for the exclusive shit from Your european favorite journalist !!!!
Great artists dont always have the chance to get their props until Europe because they are not signed on a major, spending more time on crafting their music than on getting the best deals. Smooth Operator goes after the underground ya heeard ? Fuck the hype and the numbers, it's about culture and music !!!
Smooth Operator got love for the Westcoast and the Bay, way beyond Snoop and Dre, way before the hyphy hype came
Those are just some examples and the first pages of articles. If you wish to get a whole article, please send me a request and I'll get it to you.

Check my best articles in 2007 for european press !!!!

ARTICLES OF THE MONTH

Here is what got published recently in european magz, courtesy of me: Shawty Lo, Project Pat, Gucci Mane, Bun B, Trae, C Murder, Blood Raw, Max Minelli, Jacka... What else? Oh yes, they'll thank me one day, cause nobody put those names out here except me. One last thing, I want to thank real artists for bringing back real music in hiphop this year (Tech N9ne, Killer Mike, Esham and some of the names I'm talking about here...)

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

My grandmother, my 4 siblings who never came to life, 2Pac Shakur, Pimp C, Mac Dre, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Neil Cassady, Reb Klimrod, Jim Morisson (well, his grave is 20 minutes from my home...) and the list goes on...

Alive people in this job ? I have interviewed a lot of rappers, but on the underground side I'd love to get people like Pastor Troy, Above The Law, Spice 1, Too $hort, Richie Rich, but those mothafuckaz are too hidden. But the day I'll get (I'm talking about a real interview, not those 15 lame ass minutes for press-promotion) Snoop, Outkast, Timbaland and Bone Thugs (they are too major for my slick tactics), I'm telling you, I'm out of here.
