Groovefoot is comprised of four of the best up-and-coming jazz musicians the greater front-range area has to offer. They play an eclectic variety of music ranging from straight-ahead jazz & blues to blazing funk, burning bebop, roots reggae, rump shaking hip-hop, and every musical ground inbetween.
  • Long-time resident of Wyoming's Big Horn Basin, guitarist Alex Nauman , has been shredding up the stage even before he could drive himself to gigs. He began studing guitar with local legend Jeff Troxel at a very early age. After graduating from Riverside High School in Basin, he attended Northwest College in Powell, WY where he continued studying guitar and shared the stage with such luminaries as Ronnie Bedford, Chris Vadala, Darren Kramer, Mike Tomaro, the Horn Heads (see Prince), and many others. Alex is currently studying jazz performance in guitar @ The University of Northern Colorado under the watchful eye of Matt Fuller and classical master Jonathan Leathwood.

  • Bassist/guitarist Ryan Gambrell also hails from the great state of Colorado. No stranger to the stage himself, Ryan has been playing guitar and bass since the age of 12. Currently a freelance musician based in Fort Collins, he is among the first call bassists in the northern colorado area.

  • Sam Stewart has extensive experience in the fields of deep frying tweenkies, watching daytime television and quantum mechanics. He grooves harder than a Schoenburg 12 tone composition with a sort of sweaty effortlessness. Enjoys green jelly beans, a nice porter and a good back beat. His hobbies include: spang-a-lang wiggitywack chick ba-boom bam, and collapsing wave forms. He has graduated Summa Cum Laude from Eastern Washington University with a bachelor's degree in percussion performance, and is currently pursuing his master's degree in jazz studies at the University of Northern Colorado.

  • Nick Grzenda , a Colorado native, is currently working on a degree in Jazz Studies as a saxophonist at the University of Northern Colorado. This school year he's honored to be playing second alto in UNC's Lab Band I (voted Best College Big Band in the Nation for '05 & '06 by Downbeat Magazine). He has performed at numerous venues ranging from art galleries, restaurants, and fun parks, to opening for Wendy Woo at the Boulder Theater, and performing at UNC with James Carter. Over the next few months he will be performing in UNC's Lab Band 1 with Kevin Mahogany, and Bob Mintzer. Nick is also known in colorado for his great passion of audio engineering .
