IMPROBUS ATRUM….the story so far: As all young metalheads, Aryton (guitarist) dreamt about forming his own band to express the music that was possessing his heart, mind and soul. Things started moving in 2006, when he started jamming with Jean Paul (former bassist). At first the choice of style was not clear but it all eventually boiled down to a very melodic type of Black Metal. Thus with a lot of practice and hard work Aryton’s dream was materializing. The choice for a name fell on IMPROBUS ATRUM, which means Perverse Dark, in Latin. After numerous changes, the band found a stable line-up in 2007 with Ayrton (guitar), Keith Farrugia (Vocals), Alessio (Drums), Jean Paul (bass) and the last member to join, Keith Muscat (keyboards). The band members have great synergy between them and different ideas helped to create new material. Rehearsal after rehearsal the songs developed and improved. Late in 2007, Improbus Atrum, entered Moon Studio to record their first Demo / EP, which includes Anthem to the Perverse (instrumental intro), Infernal Seduction, My Immortal Master, Soul Fucking in Eternal Dark and Eternal Desecration. The demo, entitled ‘BEARING THE MARK’ was ably recorded and produced by Mr. Trevor Kissaun. The baptism of fire for Improbus Atrum happened on the 22nd December 2007, which marked their first live performance. This took place at Remedy (Paceville – Malta) and was a great success when considering that the band was relatively unknown and was the only band on the bill. The sizable audience that attended was submitted to an hour and a half of Melodic Perverse Black Metal. Those present enjoyed the show and the band had to play an encore to satisfy the chants of “we want more, we want more..â€. What the audience experienced at the first gig was the result of hours of hard work to produce perverse music that mesmerizes, with intensive melodies combined with powerful lyrics that move the mind and the soul. The natural reaction for this was more hard work from the band to produce songs for a full album. Keeping in mind that more gigs where heading their way, Improbus Atrum wanted to have a wider song list. Brakes where hit hard and the fast running machine nearly came to a halt, when bassist Jean Paul decided to settle in the United Kingdom. This automatically meant that Jean’s commitment with the band has come to an end. The news saddened deeply all band members firstly because Jean Paul is a great friend and secondly because he is a very able bassist and no suitable replacement was being envisaged at the moment. The beast started 2008 mortally wounded but still breathing. The rest of the band continued working on new material whilst seeking a suitable replacement on bass. The choice fell on Michael, who co-incidentally is the former keyboardist of Improbus Atrum. After three intensive months, the band was ready once again to face the crowd. This happened on 2nd May 2008, once again at Remedy, sharing the stage with another Maltese Black Metal Band – Martyrium. It was another great night to remember. In July 2008, Improbus Atrum intend to launch “Bearing the Markâ€, after which the new material and two tracks from the demo will be recorded for a full length album.Current line up :Keith Farrugia – VocalsAyrton Tonna – GuitarAlessio Torrisi – DrumsKeith Muscat – KeyboardsMichael Zahara - BassImprobus Atrum would like to thank all the people who support the band, in some way or the other, especially those of you who turn up for gigs.
