If you had asked Matt Belsante what he was going to do with his life three years ago he would have given you a confident and honest answer about his future as a lawyer or a businessman. Now at the tender age of 21, the world is starting to make a little more sense and with that, plans have changed. While studying engineering and economics have not helped his songwriting, living in Nashville certainly has. Maturing in a city filled with passion for music, Matt has been able to turn his sensitively realistic thoughts into art. Even though Matt never really listened for lyrics before he started writing three years ago, his goal now as a musician is to write about honest things that people can relate to.
His first self-produced full-length album Inside My Mind provides exactly that. An honest and vulnerably hopeful yet unique take on many common situations. Presented in a very raw and simple way, the message of his music can be heard without question. It is through this music that his true thoughts and feelings come out unguarded.
In recent time, singing Sinatra-like big band jazz is where Matt has started to make a name for himself, delivering smooth vocals to the Nashville jazz community. While he will continue to perform in a more formal setting with horns a blazing, you will also find him playing his acoustic pop in more relaxed venues around Nashville. The soon to be graduate of Vanderbilt University will certainly be taking Nashville by storm in all forms of music. Even though his body rivals his guitar in size, you might be surprised to hear what his little lungs have in store for your ears.
